Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.
SQL Data Integration team is seeking Senior Software Engineer with a proven track-record in design and implementation to join our world class team of software engineers. Our team provides automated backups for millions of Azure SQL DBs that customers use for their business-critical applications. Our customers depend on these backups for point in time restore, disaster recovery and long-term retention of the backups for auditing and compliance needs. Responsibilities
Own functional area independently which includes design of new features, development, testing and support through production.
Independently uses appropriate artificial intelligence (AI) tools and practices across the software development lifecycle (SDLC) in a disciplined manner.
Self-driven, results oriented, great team player, high integrity, ability to work collaboratively or individually, and good problem-solving skills.
Customer obsessed with good communication skills
On call support for live site issues from the production.
Support existing features to keep services running efficiently in the production
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
Job Requirements: Other & Additional
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- Experience of working with relational databases will be a huge plus.
- Experience with at-scale distributed systems.
- Proficiency with C#/C++, solid knowledge of SQL.
- Prior experience in Cloud service offering
- Design and implementation skills.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
