Overview

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team is responsible for the full lifecycle of Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure, spanning site selection, development, and operations. Our global footprint includes more than 400 datacenters in 34 countries, supported by over 165,000 miles of fiber optic cable. These facilities form the backbone of Microsoft Azure and are central to our commitment to reliable, secure, and sustainable digital infrastructure.

The CO+I Energy Analytics team builds data platforms and insights that support Microsoft’s global datacenter growth and sustainability goals.

We work across the CO+I Energy Team to translate complex energy data into trusted, actionable insights that inform decisions at scale. Our work helps the Energy Team plan, operate, and optimize responsibly as Microsoft continues to grow its cloud footprint worldwide and solidify it’s leadership in providing infrastructure for the global AI economy.

We value diverse perspectives, a growth mindset, and data‑driven problem solving. Our team takes a collaborative, end‑to‑end approach to challenges—combining technical rigor with curiosity and continuous learning—to deliver meaningful impact.

As a Carbon-Free Energy (CFE) Reporting & Analytics Program manager, you will be focused on global reporting for Microsoft's portfolio of carbon-free energy and progress towards goals. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues and partner groups to develop and implement strategies that align CFE and sustainability goals with evolving regulatory requirements. The candidate will develop content, analyses and performance metrics that will play a critical role in supporting the development of Microsoft’s sustainability reports, public announcements, and blog posts, ensuring that communications reflect accurate data and strategic priorities.

The candidate will have the ability to develop creative solutions that combine knowledge of carbon-free energy and sustainability to deliver solutions for partner teams across the organization. The candidate will need to broadly understand the dynamics of energy markets and Microsoft’s own unique position in the energy sector. This necessitates that the candidate brings an innovative, collaborative presence coupled with excellent communication skills to the role to realize business goals and meet sustainability targets.
