Overview

Microsoft is seeking a strategic, impact-driven leader to shape and accelerate our approach to the nonprofit sector. As the Nonprofit Industry Lead - Microsoft Elevate within the Go to Market & Programs team, you will own the vision for how Microsoft empowers mission-driven organizations through digital transformation. You’ll define the market positioning framework for the nonprofit industry and create clear pathways to infuse nonprofit-specific scenarios into our core solution plays across Microsoft 365, Azure, and Business Applications.

This role brings together strategic planning, industry expertise, and crossfunctional leadership to help drive the impact of Microsoft Elevate—our company-wide effort to bring solutions, skills, research, and philanthropic investments together to empower education, nonprofit, and workforce partners with AI. You’ll work closely with teams across sales, marketing, and business operations to turn strategy into clear, actionable plans, ensure alignment across the fiscal year, and deliver meaningful, measurable outcomes for nonprofit customers around the world.

Responsibilities
  • Industry Vision & Strategy: Own and evolve Microsoft’s strategic vision for the nonprofit sector, aligning with global priorities and customer needs.

  • Market Positioning: Develop and maintain a clear market positioning framework that differentiates Microsoft’s value proposition for nonprofit organizations.

  • Solution Play Integration: Lead the development of pathways to embed nonprofit-specific scenarios into Microsoft’s solution plays, ensuring relevance and resonance across cloud platforms.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and sustain strong relationships with internal teams, external decision makers, and strategic partners to shape long-term industry planning.

  • Sales Execution: Assess customer needs and industry readiness, deliver tailored value propositions, and support partner engagement for targeted solutions.

  • Insight & Enablement: Conduct market research, maintain deep knowledge of industry-relevant capabilities, and inform strategic decisions on solution pursuit or withdrawal.

  • Operational Excellence: Drive GTM execution through Microsoft Elevate, enabling transformation across regions and segments with precision and scale.

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Health Sciences, Supply Chain, Education, Business or related field AND 5+ years customer-facing experience in operations, enterprise-level improvement program management, product management, transportation, hospitality, automotive, consumer goods, financial services, retail, management consulting, consultative selling, public sector, technology or industry-relevant equivalent management or technical work experience
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Health Sciences, Supply Chain, Education, Business or related field AND 7+ years customer-facing experience in operations, enterprise-level improvement program management, product management, transportation, hospitality, automotive, consumer goods, financial services, retail, management consulting, consultative selling, public sector, technology or industry-relevant equivalent management or technical work experience
    • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Health Sciences, Supply Chain, Education, Business or related field AND 7+ years customer-facing experience in operations, enterprise-level improvement program management, product management, transportation, hospitality, automotive, consumer goods, financial services, retail, management consulting, consultative selling, public sector, technology or industry-relevant equivalent management or technical work experience
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Health Sciences, Supply Chain, Education, Business or related field AND 10+ years customer-facing experience in operations, enterprise-level improvement program management, product management, transportation, hospitality, automotive, consumer goods, financial services, retail, management consulting, consultative selling, public sector, technology or industry-relevant equivalent management or technical work experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years proven people management and/or leadership experience.
  • Proven experience leading digital transformation initiatives in mission-driven or nonprofit sectors
  • Proficient strategic planning and cross-functional leadership capabilities
  • Ability to simplify complex challenges and drive clarity across teams
  • Demonstrated business acumen and stakeholder management
  • Passion for social impact and alignment with Microsoft’s mission and values

Industry Advisory IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,000 - $222,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $170,300 - $239,800 per year.
