Microsoft is looking for a Renewable Energy Analyst to join the Renewable Energy Team within Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) organization. This position will support the management of renewable energy invoicing and attribute tracking to meet Microsoft’s sustainability commitments. This role is a unique opportunity to gain broad exposure to corporate renewable energy by managing key sustainability and cost data while helping evolve the systems needed to efficiently achieve our ambitious goals.
The ideal candidate should possess experience in renewable energy, adeptness in managing commercial relationships through effective communication, and a demonstrated ability to deliver results using strong analytical skills. Responsibilities
Settlements
- Manage the tracking and approval of renewable energy project invoices and data to ensure timely and accurate settlements with counterparties.
- Leverage tools and renewable energy contractual knowledge to investigate and resolve discrepancies in supplier invoices.
- Monitor and manage associated payments in accordance with contract terms and company policies.
- Develop and track purchase orders.
- Support the management and quality of portfolio data.
Attribute Management
- Manage the tracking and reconciliation of renewable energy attribute credits that support Microsoft’s environmental claims.
- Work with counterparties and attribute registries to ensure full delivery of renewable energy credits across varied and complex contract structures.
Tooling, Process & Reporting
- Support the development and implementation of tooling and systems that enable scalable invoicing and attribute management.
- Develop analytics and management processes to optimize the operations of Microsoft’s renewable energy portfolio.
- Collaborate across internal teams to support operations functions such as supplier management.
- Support the reporting and auditing of Microsoft’s renewable energy performance.
Qualifications
Required/minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles OR equivalent experience.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in the energy sector with exposure to wholesale energy markets.
- Experience with renewable energy registries such as PJM‑GATS, NAR, WREGIS, and European GoO tracking.
- Experience with carbon dioxide removal (CDR) markets, methodologies, or credit tracking.
- Experience using cloud services for file and data management (especially Azure).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with data analytics and visualization tools, particularly Power BI.

Sourcing Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
