The Azure Local team builds the foundational platform that extends Azure into on‑premises and edge environments, delivering truly Azure‑consistent services wherever customers need to run. We enable customers to operate on their own infrastructure, by choice or necessity -- driven by latency, regulatory, data‑residency, or connectivity constraints. Responsibilities
- At the core of Azure Local is a cloud‑grade virtualization platform providing robust IaaS capabilities (compute, networking, and storage) that form the backbone for every service we deliver, enabling reliable, secure, and scalable hybrid cloud operations. We are looking for a Senior Product Manager in the team to lead the evolution of the virtualization platform to support several of the services mentioned above. You will be required to develop a deep technical understanding of customer needs across infrastructure, AI, security, and regulatory requirements, and translate those insights into clear priorities and high‑quality product specifications. Working closely with engineering teams, you will drive execution from concept through delivery, ensuring the platform meets the scale, reliability, and performance expectations of mission‑critical workloads.
- As a senior member of the team, you will serve as a key evangelist for the platform, representing the product in customer engagements, partner/industry conferences, and analyst briefings. You will collaborate cross‑functionally with design, engineering, leadership, documentation, support, sales, and product marketing teams, as well as engage directly with customers and external partners, to shape strategy, influence outcomes, and deliver meaningful customer impact.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven ownership of delivering end-end infrastructure services: defining product vision, technical roadmap, customer scenarios, great user experiences and success metrics end to end.
- Technical fluency in Azure (or other hyperscalers) / hybrid / edge architecture (VMs, control planes, networking, storage, security) with ability to partner credibly with senior engineering leaders.
- Experience operating in high ambiguity environments, balancing customer needs, architectural constraints, and long term platform strategy.
- Customer obsession: validating problems with enterprise customers, partners, and field; translating insights into differentiated platform capabilities.
- Data driven decision maker with strong judgment on tradeoffs, prioritization, and investment across reliability, scale, and adoption metrics.
- Executive level communication and influence, presenting product strategy, tradeoffs, and outcomes to senior leadership and representing the platform externally (customers, partners, analysts).
- Technical knowledge of enterprise servers, virtualization, containers, Windows/Linux and open-source ecosystems, storage, and related technology areas .
- Experience with hybrid infrastructure. spanning cloud, enterprise, and edge.
- Familiarity and hands on experience with AI solutions running in the cloud and the edge.
Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
