The AI Activation Project Manager will be part of the Business Excellence organization. The Business Excellence team enables AI-first consulting services across the pre-sales and delivery lifecycle, acting as trusted advisors to Industry Solutions Delivery leadership across Regions and Areas, driving AI-first operational excellence, business performance, pursuit, partner engagement, delivery methodology, tools, field activation and capability growth. Together, we expand Microsoft’s footprint and accelerate Commercial Cloud growth.

The role will accelerate change and adoption of AI through integrated landing, while simplifying transformation, empowering stakeholders, and delivering measurable impact across teams. The AI Activation Project Manager will be involved in delivery management aspects such as methodologies, tools, processes, financials, landing and adoption. The role will also provide ongoing support for multiple ISD AI-first engagements.

Responsibilities

Customer Focus

  • Supports strategic relationships with key stakeholders in the AI First portfolio, often as part of a steering committee, to ensure service delivery is on track and major issues are being anticipated, identified, and managed. Establishes accountabilities to drive customer outcomes and ensure internal stakeholders are in place.

  • Alleviates blockers as a point of escalation by working with direct reports and key stakeholders to manage customer escalations and resolve issues.

  • Supports relevant change initiatives and leverages core change-management methods and techniques.

Strategy

  • As needed, develops and executes planning for their portfolio to achieve usage and savings targets by supporting the team, collaborating with internal partners, and driving culture.

  • Establishes and drives rhythm of business (ROB)

  • Oversees a broad portfolio of AI First initiatives. Manages and ensures the all-up delivery of consulting engagements. Serves as a proven thought leader on the direction of the consulting offerings portfolio for a large, complex practice, leveraging insights from reports (e.g., efficiency, operations), internal team members, and across organizational boundaries. Develops and implements a strategic portfolio-wide plan to achieve targets by leading intentional delivery activities and leveraging intellectual property (IP) for reuse.

  • Acts as an innovative agent of change by working within leadership communities to define and sponsor organizational change, driving consistent messaging and support to land organizational change initiatives within and across practices, and providing feedback on organization information/initiatives.

Delivery Excellence

  • Ensures delivery excellence and maximizes efficiency of resources for a large practice by managing complex scopes and budgets, balancing funding and resources across workstreams, communicating resource needs, collaborating to meet those needs.

  • Creates a problem solving climate across teams that resolves complex or high-impact delivery issues across AI First portfolio.

  • Applies governance controls to mitigate and manage risks and ensure policy compliance in delivery and sales. Models and holds team accountable for execution and adherence to Microsoft Consulting processes (e.g., Enterprise Consulting Authorization Policy, Responsible AI). Documents and executes plans to mitigate identified risks for challenged deliveries.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field AND 7+ years experience in project management
    • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field AND 15+ years' experience in project management
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification.
  • 8+ years financial management experience.
  • Agile certification, Scrum Master, Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), or Professional Scrum Master One (PSM1) certification.
  • Certification in relevant industry.


Consulting Project Management IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $138,200 - $268,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $175,900 - $288,000 per year.
