As a Senior Sales Operations Business Analyst in Microsoft Advertising, you will partner closely with managers and executive leaders to analyze complex business questions, deliver insights, and inform critical decisions. You will shape analyses end to end, synthesizing data, developing clear recommendations, and helping leaders determine next steps that drive organizational outcomes. Responsibilities

Business Understanding & Problem Framing

  • Build a deep understanding of the business across multiple domains to anticipate business problems and identify analytical solutions.
  • Translate evolving business needs into clear data requirements; determine new data sources needed and proactively address data gaps or quality issues.

Analytical Strategy, Tools & Techniques

  • Determine the appropriate analytical tools, models, and methodologies to address business questions and guide others in executing analyses.
  • Critically evaluate assumptions, data integrity, and methodological approaches; provide feedback that strengthens analytical rigor and tool selection.

Insights Synthesis & Storytelling

  • Synthesize findings across analytical workstreams, dashboards, and reporting platforms to develop clear, cohesive presentations that inform decision‑making.
  • Guide others in preparing executive‑ready presentations that accurately and appropriately communicate insights.

Evaluation & Experimentation

  • Identify relevant factors and data types to include in analyses and evaluations, accounting for risks and potential trade‑offs.
  • Integrate results across multiple evaluations, identify connections to other analytical work, and recommend the next steps or strategies.

Data Quality, Governance & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Leverage strong partnerships across engineering, business, and analytics teams to ensure access to quality data, sound methodologies, and appropriate application of tools.
  • Promote scalable analytical and reporting methods that drive efficiency and evaluate the relevance and viability of automated reporting solutions.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 3+ years' experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years' experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR equivalent experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 6+ years’ experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR equivalent experience OR business and financial analysis
  • 4+ years’ experience in online advertising.
  • 4+ years’ experience presenting compelling data stories to executive audiences.

Business Analytics IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
