The Windows Enterprise and Security (ENS) team is seeking an experienced and passionate software development leader to take on the role of Principal Sotware Engineer Manager and build a new security engineering team in Microsoft’s India Development Center (IDC).
ENS is responsible for securing the Windows client and server operating systems, which are used by billions of customers every day across homes, enterprises, and governments worldwide. Our teams build foundational Windows capabilities spanning hardware‑backed security, cryptography, identity and authentication, as well as enterprise management and licensing—critical to making Windows a trusted platform at global scale.
In this role, you will establish and grow a new ENS engineering presence in IDC, working closely with partner teams in Redmond. You will hire and lead engineers developing operating system features and services that ship broadly across the Windows ecosystem, helping ensure Windows remains a secure and dependable choice for customers.

Responsibilities
- Build, lead, and develop a team of Engineering Managers and Individual Contributors delivering Windows security features and services.
- Drive execution across in‑market and in‑development products, balancing security quality, customer needs, incident response, and innovation.
- Partner closely with ENS engineering teams in Redmond to deliver shared goals and aligned technical outcomes.
- Collaborate with leaders across ENS and partner organizations to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
- Foster a high‑performance, inclusive engineering culture grounded in learning, growth, and accountability.
- Support technical decision‑making and architectural discussions in OS and security domains.
- Grow the team through thoughtful hiring, coaching, and career development.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years people management experience.
- Experience shipping operating system or platform‑level functionality and supporting customers at scale.
- Familiarity with Windows architecture, operating system fundamentals, or platform security concepts.
- Ability to create clarity, energy, and cohesion across organizations and teams.
