Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. The CO+I CTO Office is looking for a Technical Leader in systems, components, and networking. The Technical Leader for Systems Engineering will take CTO technology innovations into production, including defining reliability and quality requirements and supply chain development and enablement. The candidate will be responsible for providing technical alignment with cross-functional teams for hardware systems (CPU, GPU, racks), networking, and datacenter roadmaps. This individual will be expected to think outside the box and seek opportunities to collaborate or codevelop with industry partners and/or academia to develop innovative solutions.
We are looking for a leader who is creative, talented, and experienced with a deep technical background and expertise in system environments (power, thermal, reliability, etc.). The position requires bringing innovative operations, expertise working with planning, and innovative team. You will collaborate with Advance Development technical subject matter experts (SME), Datacenter Design Engineers, Platform and Component Designers, Data Scientists, Supply Chain, Datacenter Operations, and other engineering disciplines to develop component and system level solutions.

Responsibilities
Be a thought leader in the development of innovative solutions for our hardware platforms, setting goals, objectives, and outcomes and ensuring that they are met.
Develop and implement innovative strategies to drive innovation and ideation.
Identify areas of improvement and develop strategies to address them.
Drive alignment across technical stakeholders through deep understanding of system architecture elements – processors, accelerators, servers, network, and datacenter architecture.
Develop innovative solutions from technology to transition to platform scale, performance, quality, and differentiation.
Create and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and vendors.
Monitor and analyze industry trends and developments to ensure that our innovation efforts are competitive.
Develop and implement processes and procedures to ensure that our innovation efforts are efficient and effective.
Provide technical advice and guidance to the team.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years technical engineering experience in GPUs, Networking, system engineering, compute and storage or product development with a provider of cloud, datacenter, network, server products or services OR equivalent experience.
6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
MS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, OR related field; AND 9+ years technical engineering experience with a provider of cloud, datacenter, network, server products or services.
BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, OR related field; AND 15+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience with a provider of cloud, datacenter, network, server products or services.
Overall subject matter expertise in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering with enough knowledge to be capable of leading other engineering areas outside of subject matter expertise.
10+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
End to end expert hardware system knowledge of silicon, server, networking, and datacenter architecture, processes, and technology.
Knowledge of datacenter technologies and trends. Ability to think outside the box and develop innovative solutions.
Extensive experience and knowledge in operating in technical domains and environments that have ambiguity.
Experience and ability to influence without authority across engineering teams.
Experience leading critical engineering initiatives that span multiple teams, which often have conflicting priorities and schedules.
Demonstrated critical thinking, program management skills, and collaboration experience.

Technical Program Management IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $163,000 - $296,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $220,800 - $331,200 per year.
