Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the organization responsible for building and operating the global infrastructure that powers Microsoft’s cloud. Within CO+I, CO+I Engineering builds and operates software products and platforms that power the planning, execution, and scaling of datacenter capacity for Microsoft’s cloud business. These solutions enable the delivery of highly complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-million-dollar, multi-year datacenter construction and lease programs with strict safety, quality, schedule, and cost requirements.
The CO+I Engineering team architects, designs, and delivers the next generation of connected systems and platforms that support these outcomes. Leveraging modern microservices architectures and enterprise ERP platforms, the team builds scalable, real-time solutions across critical business domains including Supply Chain, Cost Management, Scheduling, Networking, Commissioning, Safety, and Capacity Planning. These systems form the digital backbone for datacenter execution across the global CO+I footprint.
Aligned to a North Star of end-to-end automation, the team is chartered to deliver robust, well-engineered platforms while also pioneering next-generation recommendation engines. These capabilities enable advanced cost and schedule modeling, supply and execution planning, and data-driven decision-making—seamlessly integrated across the broader CO+I ecosystem to drive smarter, faster, and more predictable delivery at scale.

Responsibilities
Job Summary
The Principal Product Manager for S&OP will drive the end-to-end product strategy, architecture direction, and execution of Microsoft’s next-generation Sales & Operations Planning capabilities powering global datacenter expansion and AI-scale infrastructure delivery. This role is highly technical and requires strong experience building enterprise-grade planning systems, shaping data and platform architecture, and partnering closely with software engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and automated planning solutions.
You will lead the definition and evolution of Microsoft’s unified S&OP platform—integrating forecasting, supply planning, inventory management, and capacity modeling—by combining deep supply chain expertise with modern software product development practices. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation, fluency in engineering concepts, and hands-on experience working with developers, architects, and data engineers in an agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
Product Vision & Architecture Leadership
Define and evolve the long-term technical vision for Microsoft’s S&OP platform, including architecture direction, data model strategy, integration patterns, and automation opportunities.
Partner closely with software engineering teams to translate the product vision into scalable, performant, and resilient platform capabilities.
Drive alignment across CO+IE, engineering, data platform, cloud supply chain, and finance organizations to ensure a unified S&OP architecture and roadmap.
Roadmap Ownership & Technical Delivery
Own the multi-year product roadmap with a strong focus on platform engineering needs, data engineering pipelines, API strategy, and technical debt management.
Lead engineering squads through requirements definition, backlog prioritization, sprint planning, and acceptance criteria.
Ensure high-quality delivery of software features through strong collaboration with engineering leads, architects, and quality teams.
End-to-End Planning Capabilities
Build integrated product capabilities spanning forecasting, scenario modeling, constraint management, supply-demand balancing, and datacenter capacity optimization.
Incorporate AI/ML, digital twins, and predictive analytics into planning workflows in collaboration with data science teams.
Translate complex operational requirements into technical specifications that engineering teams can execute against.
Cross-Functional & Executive Leadership
Lead planning workshops, influence technical and business stakeholders, and facilitate alignment across engineering, operations, finance, network planning, and construction teams.
Create executive-ready insights and recommendations for monthly/quarterly S&OP cycles, connecting platform capabilities to business outcomes.
Drive change management and adoption of new capabilities across global teams.
Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
- Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market (e.g., design, addressing product market fit, and launch, internal tool/framework).
- 6+ years experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market (e.g., growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn).
- 6+ years experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience (e.g., competitive disruption, taking the place of an established competing product).

- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
