The CoreAI Speech Group brings together talents in the areas of signal processing, speech modeling, statistical modeling and deep learning to develop and deliver robust, natural and scalable speech technologies, across a rich set of scenarios and languages.
Speech has become more accurate, and its application has become more useful - especially for user experiences in the areas of intelligent meeting transcription, dictation, and task completion. It powers Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft M365, Bing, and many Copilot experiences. It is critical feature to power 1st party and 3rd party user experiences.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work closely with experts in speech modeling to develop robust and scalable technologies to a rich set of scenarios and languages. You'll collaborate with service and partner teams to architect highly scalable end-to-end solutions.
Ideal candidates for this position would have proven programming and algorithm design skills, experience in AI/ML, preferably in the speech area, and a demonstrated ability to deliver high quality features in a highly collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define and incorporate customer requirements, including security, privacy, and accessibility needs. Integrate quantitative and qualitative feedback to refine designs and ensure customer value.
Designing, implementing, and optimizing, high performance components and algorithms that make up the batch and real-time recognition engines.
Conduct thorough code and test reviews to ensure adherence to team standards, focusing on diagnosability, reliability, testability, and maintainability. Provide constructive feedback to enhance code quality and coach team members, leveraging automated tools and best practices for security and compliance.
Partner with stakeholders to drive project plans, ensuring secure and efficient deployment using feature flags and experimentation.
Apply secure coding practices, drive automation for zero-touch deployment, and ensure compliance with security, privacy, and accessibility standards. Stay updated on industry trends and share knowledge to enhance team practices and tools.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have speech recognition or ML background.
Outstanding C/C++ coding skills are a PLUS.
Results-oriented free thinkers with ability to socialize and drive their ideas into technology are highly desired
Experience with Azure Service Deployment is a Plus

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
