The Microsoft Turing team is an innovative engineering and research organization advancing state‑of‑the‑art deep learning models across the full machine learning lifecycle. Within Turing, we are a fast‑paced, high‑impact experience team responsible for building end‑to‑end experiences for Microsoft 365 Copilot—from cutting‑edge frontend platforms to backend orchestration systems. Our work spans reasoning over user prompts, grounding in enterprise data, invoking tools and extensions, and synthesizing secure, compliant responses at scale.
As a member of the Microsoft Turing team, this role has a direct impact on product quality, shaping the daily experience of millions of users. The position involves designing and building solutions using modern M365 Copilot UX frameworks, large‑scale orchestration systems, and experimentation platforms such as A/B testing frameworks, while collaborating closely with teams across distributed systems, data mining, and machine learning. Responsibilities
- Driving projects from design through implementation, experimentation and shipping to our users.
- Understanding scenarios, challenges, and issues in a feature area. Proposing design, solutions, mitigations, and being responsible for metric-driven result.
- Working independently to implement, flight and ship features to different canvases and have impact on key metrics.
- Innovating feature ideas, analyzing opportunities through data mining of Bing logs and user study.
- Understanding all the metrics, able to get insights of what happened from real traffic scorecard, and coming up with improvement plan.
- Building dashboard and online tests to monitor mainstreamed features’ coverage, performance and availability.
- Collaborating with internal and external partner teams globally.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- Great design, problem solving, and data analysis skills, with demonstrated passion for quality, performance, and engineering excellence.
- Motivated and able to work independently as well in a collaborative team setting to research innovative solutions to challenging technical/business problems.
- At least 3 years of experience coding in C++, C#, TypeScript, JavaScript, or Java.
- At least 1 years of industry experiences with one or more of the following: large scale of Web development, App development, Distributed Systems and/or Information Retrieval.
Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
