M365 US Government and Sovereign Clouds are a critical growth engine for Microsoft, enabling governments and public-sector organizations to modernize their businesses through AI-driven, secure cloud services. As these global clouds drive critical growth for Microsoft’s business, our role in ensuring feature and operational parity, robust observability, and rapid incident response across global clouds is more important than ever.
We are looking for a Principal Product Manager to lead and expand our product management team. In this role, you will manage a team of product managers and guide them in driving our mission. You will combine deep product expertise with strong leadership skills to ensure our team delivers high-impact solutions for our customers.

Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the long-term vision and strategy with clear goals and priorities that align with broader Enterprise + Cloud objectives. You will define a roadmap of initiatives to deliver consistent, reliable runtime experiences across all cloud environments, and track success metrics (e.g. parity gaps closed, incident response improvements) to drive continuous operational excellence.
- Lead cross-team initiatives to drive feature and operational parity across all clouds. You will codify and embed critical operational requirements and standards into our tools, systems, and processes to ensure all M365 services meet consistent reliability, compliance, and performance benchmarks in every cloud.
- Leverage AI, data insights, and automation to improve cloud reliability and incident management. You will guide your team in developing AI-driven solutions for end-to-end observability and automated detection of runtime parity gaps and drifts across different cloud environments. By harnessing data and machine learning, you will help automate resolution paths for discrepancies, minimize incident impact and reduce time to recovery, thereby enhancing service health and customer trust.
- Partner with engineering, product, operations, and compliance teams (One Microsoft). You will collaborate with software engineering groups, M365 service teams, and compliance/security stakeholders to identify and close operational gaps, streamline cloud operations, and address unique requirements for regulated environments. In doing so, you will represent team’s mission and strategy in cross-organizational discussions and leadership forums, ensuring alignment and advocacy for our business priorities.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing product management team. You will manage, mentor and coach a talented team of Product Managers, providing regular 1:1 coaching, feedback, and guidance. You will conduct Connects (performance and development conversations) and conduct annual performance reviews, with a focus on advancing each team member’s career, skills, and impact. You will foster an inclusive, collaborative environment where team members are motivated, set and achieve ambitious goals, and grow in their careers.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
- OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.- Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
- OR equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated thought leadership and technical aptitude, with the curiosity and ability to quickly understand complex cloud services, architectures, and customer requirements, and to drive clarity to address complex technical and operational challenges.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership, and to clearly articulate business and technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- 3+ years people management experience.
- 4+ years experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market (e.g., design, addressing product market fit, and launch, internal tool/framework).
- 6+ years experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market (e.g., growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn).
- 6+ years experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience (e.g., competitive disruption, taking the place of an established competing product).
- Experience in government, sovereign, or other highly regulated cloud environments, or demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and excel in the sovereignty and compliance domain.Data-driven decision-making and AI/automation experience. Proficiency in analyzing operational data and using insights to drive decisions.
- Experience leveraging modern technologies (e.g. AI/ML, automation tools) to inform product strategy and improve cloud reliability and operations is a strong plus (e.g. using AI to detect issues or optimize processes).
- Proven success in defining and delivering large-scale cloud or enterprise services, from shaping long-term vision and requirements to collaborating with engineering on execution, resulting in improved reliability, performance, or customer satisfaction.
Product Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
