As a Software Engineer on the Azure Capacity Infrastructure Service team, you'll learn how both Azure backend services and business come together to make the cloud a reality. This opportunity will allow you to design, build, deploy and run the intelligence necessary to increase efficiency and scalability across a distributed system to safely orchestrate Azure growth and expansion.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with product, engineering, security, and privacy partners to understand user and feature requirements
  • Implements feature‑scoped code using team standards, reusable patterns, and AI‑assisted development practices
  • Participates in design discussions and contributes to design documents and dependency identification under guidance
  • Assists in breaking down work items, estimating effort, and escalating risks or blockers early
  • Uses debugging tools, tests, logs, and telemetry to identify, triage, and fix issues in assigned features
  • Acts as Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) for assigned components during on‑call, following playbooks to restore service and escalating complex issues
  • Applies security, privacy, accessibility, and compliance best practices with guidance; supports testing and validation. Contributes to operational readiness through monitoring, safe deployments, rollback planning, and continuous learning


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python,
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python,
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python,
    • OR equivalent experience.

Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
