Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of hundreds of data centers, managed by a team of subject matter experts working to support services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in over 90 countries worldwide.

The Region Design and Technology team is at the forefront of designing and driving regional launch, expansion, and evolution. Our global team works with a broad range of disciplines to craft and implement design principles and the newest technologies. As a Region Designer (Technical Program Manager) on the AMER Region Design team, you will be responsible for creating long term designs for the launch of new Cloud Regions in our AMER Region expansion of our existing regions, and implementation of new technologies and requirements into the regions including AI. To create optimal designs, you will partner with multiple engineering groups (both physical and software), finance, land, energy, and network teams to ensure we meet our customer requirements, design principles, and financial targets. Once the design is completed, you will be responsible for getting alignment and approval of the Region Design across multiple disciplines both inside and outside of CO+I. Once a design is in execution, you will proactively monitor the region for risk to the design and engage cross-functional teams for resolution.

"This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Redmond, WA, Atlanta, GA, San Antonio, TX, Phoenix, AZ, or Washington DC. Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates should relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location. This role is hybrid work, 3 days / week in-office"



Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Partners with infrastructure teams to create Region Designs for new AI & Azure Regions and for expansion of existing Regions.

  • Implements the latest principles and technologies into Region Designs.

  • Directly shape the strategy for delivery of Microsoft cloud capabilities and growth throughout live and forthcoming Regions throughout AMER

  • Drive unique technical programs, including first of kind new technology into Hyperscale regions globally.

  • Proactively monitor regions for risk in executing designs. Collaborates across the organization for resolution.

  • Leads and coordinates cross-functional team efforts to drive engineering solutions to technical challenges and deliver quality solutions to committed schedules and project plans.

  • Creates relationships to drive orchestration and integration efforts to implement design principles and technologies. Collaborates and coordinates across organizations to ensure approval and alignment of Region Designs.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years’ experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience in cross functional program management, especially in strategy, planning and decision-making environment
  • 2+ years’ experience working with physical infrastructure in some capacity.
  • 2+ years’ experience in data and analysis for decision making
  • Experience leading and managing a business-critical function
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft’s regional datacenter and network architecture
  • Experience in planning cloud specific infrastructure
  • Ability to communicate and present complex analysis at the executive levels for alignment and decision making
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to drive projects, and build buy-in and support

Background Check Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
