The Data Security team’s mission is to building cloud solutions to support premium features that provide security, compliance, data governance, data loss prevention, and more, in a fully integrated manner from services to clients of Office 365 as well as Windows. We create global scale services to transport, store, secure and manage some of the most sensitive data on the planet and build our services on top of Azure, Exchange and other cloud platforms, and our experiences in Office applications like Outlook. The IDC arm of the team is expanding substantially and is looking for talented and highly motivated engineers. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who has, or wants to build, expertise in cloud distributed systems, or in security and compliance, or both. Team will be building cloud solutions meeting scales that few companies in the industry are required to support, that leverage state of the art technologies to deliver holistic protection to a planet scale user base. Office 365 is the industry leader in hosted productivity suites and boasts to be the fastest growing business at Microsoft with more than 100 million seats hosted in multiple data centers across the globe. The SCM Engineering team provides leadership, direction and accountability for application architecture, Cloud design, infrastructures development and end to end implementation. You will independently determine and develop architectural approaches and Infrastructure solutions, conduct business reviews, and operate our production services. Strong collaboration skills will be required to work closely with other engineering teams to ensure services/systems are highly stable and performant and meet the expectations of internal and external customers and users. Responsibilities
Strategy & Vision
1. Define long-term product vision, strategy, and roadmap across organizational boundaries
2. Write product framing memos emphasizing AI as a core differentiator
3. Translate complex AI concepts into business value for executives and customers
4. Build consensus across cross-functional teams, partners, and senior leadership
5. Assess partnership and acquisition opportunities.
Customer & Market Intelligence
1. Lead AI-powered analysis of customer signals (usage, telemetry, feedback) to identify unmet needs
2. Conduct competitive analyses and market research as subject matter expert
3. Engage directly with customers through 1:1 interactions and broader forums
4. Share strategic insights with senior stakeholders to drive cross-team alignment.
Product Development:
1. Own product roadmap, prioritize backlog, and manage tradeoffs with engineering teams
2. Lead feature definition and collaborate with Design on UX, APIs, and functionality
3. Partner with data science teams on model objectives, training data, and AI metrics
4. Drive MVP development using AI prototyping tools and auto-generated workflows
5. Ensure quality, security, and ethical standards are met .
Go-to-Market:
1. Define release criteria, customer acquisition, and monetization strategies
2. Create strategy from private preview to general availability
3. Build marketing plans and content supporting product launches
4. Evangelize products at Executive Briefing Centers and industry events
5. Present to stakeholders, partners, analysts, and customers.
Metrics & Performance:
1. Define and track OKRs and KPIs (engagement, usage, revenue, NPS, profitability)
2. Set AI-specific success metrics (precision/recall, relevance scores)
3. Ensure proper telemetry and data collection with engineering partners
4. Understand COGS deeply and drive profitability improvements
5. Conduct advanced analytics and drive data-driven decisions.
Customer Engagement:
1. Build trust with key customers and maintain communication throughout product lifecycle
2. Lead customer communities and engagement programs
3. Drive support process improvements using AI-driven workflows
4. Utilize customer personas and AI-based research for effective communication
Qualifications
1. 8+ years product management experience with complex, cross-organizational products
2. Deep AI/ML expertise with proven ability to integrate AI-first thinking into strategy.
3. Track record defining product vision that drives significant business impact.
4. Strong technical background (APIs, infrastructure, AI modeling).
5. Expert stakeholder management and ability to influence senior leadership.
6. Strong analytical skills with OKR/KPI definition and tracking experience.
7. Go-to-market planning and product launch experience.
