We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to join our team. The Customer Experience Engineering (CXE) team sits within Microsoft security engineering and work directly with customers and partners worldwide and collaborate closely with engineering teams to shape product direction based on real-world insights. In this role, you will lead technical and strategic customer engagements focused on Security for AI, helping organizations protect AI applications and agents, secure model and prompt lifecycles, manage risk and compliance, and establish robust governance across the AI stack. The role requires proactive guidance, effective listening skills, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to drive technical execution from concept to adoption. You will extract critical feedback pertaining to customer expectations and product feedback to drive value and usability.

This position is posted for multiple U.S. locations, including remote. If you are based in Redmond, WA area you will be required to work onsite three days per week.


Responsibilities
  • Lead customer engagements alongside product and engineering teams, ensuring a first-class experience and measurable outcomes.
  • Partner across product, engineering, marketing, and other teams to align on Security for AI strategy, priorities, and execution.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive and technical stakeholders on Security for AI.
  • Become a subject matter authority and ramp quickly on emerging Security for AI capabilities spanning identity, security, compliance, and management.
  • Help customers derive value from early-stage products by identifying and closing documentation gaps, innovating technical workarounds and testing value hypotheses. Guide product development towards features that unblock implementations and yield significant near-term insights from key design partners.
  • Translate customer Security for AI scenarios into clear requirements, success criteria, and action plans (architecture, deployment, and operationalization).
  • Drive a tight feedback loop: capture blockers, issues, and learnings; communicate risks and progress; and influence roadmap and engineering execution.
  • Advocate for interoperability and secure-by-design patterns for AI applications and agents, aligned with cybersecurity and software development lifecycle standards.
  • Deliver technical briefings, workshops, and demos for audiences ranging from C-level executives to architects, engineers, analysts, and developers.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, onboarding guides, and recommended practices to scale learnings to the broader field, customer, and partner communities.
  • Build and maintain solid relationships with key customer stakeholders to grow trust, accelerate adoption, and expand usage over time.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years (or equivalent) experience leading complex, cross-group initiatives with multiple stakeholders.
  • 4+ years (or equivalent) of experince in security, including security engineering, cloud security, application security, security operations, identity, compliance, and data security.
  • 2+ years (or equivalent) with foundational knowledge of AI/LLM concepts relevant to security (tokens, context windows, function/tool calling, prompts) and the AI application lifecycle.
  • 4+ years (or equivalent) with demonstrated technical curiosity and a history of fully comprehending complex product implementations, especially in security and identity.
  • 4+ years (or equivalent) with ability to operate comfortably in highly technical discussions with engineers and operators, while distilling complex risks, progress, and learnings into concise, outcome-focused narratives for executive stakeholders.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
    • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely about initiative risks, accomplishments, learnings, and opportunities—adapting to the audience.
  • technical pre-sales, technical consulting, or delivery experience in customer-facing roles.
  • Experience engaging with enterprise customers to define success criteria, drive adoption, and operationalize security capabilities.
  • Experience securing AI applications (e.g., AI copilots, agentic workflows, RAG systems) including data protection, prompt safety, and runtime controls.
  • Experience with security governance and compliance programs (e.g., policies, controls, audits, and risk reporting) as applied to AI systems.
  • Familiarity with identity and access patterns for AI workloads (workload identities, least privilege, secrets management, conditional access concepts).
  • Experience with cloud security posture management, threat detection, and incident response in modern cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate customer needs into prioritized requirements, solution positioning, and business value narratives.
  • Highly adaptable to change; comfortable pivoting in response to evolving circumstances and ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deep knowledge or the ability to learn quickly Microsoft security and AI ecosystems (e.g., Microsoft Entra, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Purview, Intune, Security Copilot, Azure AI services).
  • Adavnaced use of AI tools at work for increased productivity.

Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
