Overview

The Index Generation and Serving team is responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure and pipelines that power index generation for Bing Search Ads. Our key responsibilities include:

  1. Running and monitoring large-scale data pipelines.
  2. Developing both batch and real-time pipelines to process massive datasets.
  3. Collaborating with data scientists to integrate machine learning models into the indexing pipeline.
  4. Monitoring, debugging, and managing index data, while supporting PMs with data-related issues.

This role works on backend systems and big data pipelines, as well as web portal development. We also encourage leveraging LLMs to drive continuous productivity improvements in your areas of ownership.

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. Responsibilities
  • Follow team's design pattern, build and optimize both streaming and batch data pipelines to meet business needs.
  • Maintain and enhance our system-plane platform and data-plane tools to enrich functionality and improve usability.
  • Refine code and system design to maximize performance while reducing complexity.
  • Research emerging technologies and environments to stay aligned with company strategy, industry trends, and best practices.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience designing and implementing high-performance, Azure-based services and tools.
  • Solid knowledge of design patterns, object-oriented analysis and design (OOA/D), and large-scale online distributed systems.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
