Within Azure Data, the business intelligence team builds and maintains Power BI which is the undisputed leader in BI tool in the industry today and serves as the bridge between data professionals & Office users. Power BI’s core value proposition is to enable end users to get answers & insights from their data through data visualization.
The Reporting & Modeling team within the Core BI pillar is hiring a Product Manager to help define and evolve the future of Power BI’s report authoring and visualization experiences. This team sits at the heart of Power BI’s creator workflow, owning the end-to-end experience across Web and Desktop for report design, visual development, and data modeling. What makes this role unique is its direct impact on millions of creators worldwide—shaping how insights are built, expressed, and shared at scale. This position requires a product leader who can combine deep customer empathy with technical fluency, partner closely with engineering and design, and drive innovation that keeps Power BI the industry leader in intuitive, powerful business intelligence.

Responsibilities
- Drive the Modeling Vision and Strategy
- Define and execute the product strategy for semantic modeling in Power BI, including enhancements to data modeling capabilities, performance optimization, scalability, and enterprise-grade governance.
- Advance DAX Innovation and Usability
- Lead the evolution of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) by identifying opportunities to improve expressiveness, performance, debugging, and ease of use—making advanced calculations more powerful and accessible to creators at all skill levels.
- Improve Authoring and Diagnostics Experiences
- Deliver best-in-class tooling for model design, calculation authoring, validation, and troubleshooting, including formula authoring enhancements, performance analysis tools, and intelligent guidance for optimization.
- Partner Cross-Functionally to Ship High-Impact Features
- Collaborate closely with engineering, design, and the AS Workload team to deliver modeling and DAX features end-to-end—from concept through release—ensuring technical rigor, quality, and measurable customer impact.
- Engage with Customers and Community to Inform Roadmap
- Partner with enterprise customers, MVPs, and the broader Power BI community to understand modeling and DAX pain points, gather feedback, and translate insights into prioritized roadmap investments that drive adoption and satisfaction.
Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
- Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
- 5+ Years with Power BI experience or equivalent BI tool
- 2+ years experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market (e.g., design, addressing product market fit, and launch, internal tool/framework).
- 4+ years experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market (e.g., growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn).
- 4+ years experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience (e.g., competitive disruption, taking the place of an established competing product).
Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
