We are seeking a forward‑thinking, impact‑driven leader to drive the go‑to‑market strategy for Microsoft Data Security, supporting mission‑driven organizations across K–12 education and the nonprofit sector. As the Microsoft Elevate Worldwide Data Security Go to Market Director, you will shape and accelerate the adoption of Microsoft Purview capabilities, including data governance, information protection, data loss prevention, insider risk management, and compliance controls that help organizations safeguard sensitive data, manage risk, and build trust. You will enable customers to establish a secure data foundation that protects people and information while supporting responsible AI, Copilot, and agent‑based experiences at scale.

You will lead the GTM motion for Data Security across these sectors, helping school systems and nonprofits protect sensitive information, strengthen information governance, and meet regulatory and compliance requirements. Your remit includes ensuring our data security and compliance offerings enable customers to confidently secure data across Microsoft 365, Copilot, third-party applications & clouds, and AI‑enabled workflows—grounded in product truth, customer context, and real‑world use cases that build trust, resilience, and operational confidence at scale.

You will work closely with sales, marketing, engineering, and business operations teams to translate strategy into clear execution plans, ensure fiscal‑year alignment, and deliver measurable, sustainable impact for K–12 education and nonprofit customers globally.

If you are passionate about securing and governing mission‑critical data, managing data risk across complex environments, and enabling responsible AI through compliance controls, this is an opportunity to lead a high‑visibility Data Security solution area within Microsoft Purview, aligned to Microsoft’s commitment to education and social impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion the adoption of data security, data loss prevention, information protection, and compliance solutions that enable K–12 and nonprofit organizations to safeguard sensitive data and securely adopt AI across their digital estate. This role will place particular emphasis on protecting and governing data for Microsoft 365 Copilot and agent‑based experiences, ensuring responsible, compliant, and trusted AI usage at scale.
  • Lead the development of security‑focused offers, programs, and investment strategies tailored to the unique regulatory, risk, and resource constraints of education and nonprofit organizations— anchored in AI readiness, data governance, and compliance, ensuring investments are aligned to measurable customer impact and secure AI adoption.
  • Serve as the principal GTM advocate and subject‑matter leader for Data Security within the Microsoft Purview product family across the nonprofit and K–12 ecosystem, aligning internal stakeholders across sales, engineering, marketing, and partner teams to accelerate adoption of Microsoft Purview, compliance capabilities, and secure AI usage.
  • Drive partner‑led growth by enabling and activating a powerful ecosystem of security and compliance partners to deliver scalable assessments, implementations, and measurable business value across data protection, governance, and secure AI adoption.
  • Own and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure the health, reach, and impact of the Data Security business across K–12 and nonprofit organizations, using insights on pipeline, adoption, and post‑sale activation to inform GTM and investment decisions.

  • Partner with senior leaders across Microsoft using a One Microsoft approach to drive strategic alignment, inform investment decisions, and optimize execution across sales, engineering, marketing, and operations.
  • Represent the Data Security business in Rhythm of Business, monthly, and quarterly reviews, delivering clear insights, risks, and actionable recommendations grounded in product truth, customer security posture, and real‑world operational constraints.

  • Serve as the central orchestrator between corporate and field teams, ensuring clarity on priorities, targets, execution plans, and blockers across the Data Security GTM motion.
  • Activate and scale a partner ecosystem capable of delivering data security assessments, data protection and governance implementations, and compliance solutions—driving secure AI adoption for customers with limited IT capacity.
  • Identify adoption barriers—technical, organizational, or capability‑related—and mobilize cross‑functional teams to remove friction, accelerate deployment, and drive sustained post‑sale activation.

Go-to-Market (GTM) Strategy, Planning, and Delivery

  • Create and orchestrate go‑to‑market strategies for Data Security across sales, marketing, industry, customer success, and partner teams—spanning Microsoft Purview’s data protection, information governance, and compliance capabilities to secure data across its lifecycle, including but not limited to AI and Copilot scenarios, for K–12 and nonprofit customers.

  • Guide field teams on high‑value customer data security scenarios, including protecting student and donor data, strengthening compliance and reporting, reducing data risk, and enabling Copilot and AI securely across the data lifecycle through governed access and controls.
  • Lead cross‑functional orchestration across engineering, marketing, industry, partner, and customer success teams to accelerate adoption and ensure consistent execution of data security and compliance solutions.

Business Development

  • Identify and cultivate whitespace opportunities across data protection, information governance, compliance, and secure AI enablement, translating market gaps into scalable GTM motions for K–12 and nonprofit organizations
  • Leverage deep understanding of revenue goals, market opportunity, and security maturity to shape strategies that accelerate adoption, reduce risk, and maximize mission impact.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with internal teams, partners, and customers to operationalize Data Security strategies and deliver scalable, repeatable security and compliance outcomes across the sectors.

Industry Expertise

  • Build and maintain deep expertise in K–12 education and nonprofit operations, including data privacy and protection requirements, regulatory and compliance obligations, responsible data practices, evolving policy trends, and sector‑specific risk profiles—using this insight to inform GTM strategy and field execution.
