Overview

Microsoft’s Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA) Public Affairs team works at the intersection of technology, public policy, and societal impact. As Senior Manager, Digital Channel Strategy for Public Affairs, you will develop and execute digital marketing channel strategies to engage thought leaders, policy insiders and government stakeholders with the goal to enhance awareness of our corporate responsibility work, building trust and credibility for Microsoft’s global business.

In this role you will use data-driven insights to develop strategies for owned channels activations (primarily social media and blog) that help Public Affairs increase visibility and impact of our core content and narratives. You will develop and manage the operational plan that will drive efficiencies, agility and growth to our owned channels. You will be responsible for establishing and implementing channel best practices, defining and tracking goals, monitoring performance benchmarks, and ensuring a cohesive multi-channel experience across all touchpoints. In this role, you will be the team champion analytics by providing insights and data to inform strategic decision making across the team.

The owned channel responsibilities include representing CELA requests for amplification on Microsoft O&O channels, requiring you to build internal relationships with various brand and commercial marketing teams, and to apply sound judgment in determining what amplification opportunities to pursue. Related, you will also lead paid boosting of social channels to grow audience awareness and engagement.

This role sits within a digital and marketing team of Public Affairs and partners closely with colleagues in Public Affairs Communications, as well as with program stakeholders and external vendors.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and oversee digital channel strategies and planning for Social Media channels in LinkedIn, X, Instagram and a newly rebuilt Microsoft on the Issues blog.

  • Evaluate new channel opportunities aligned to business goals, build the roadmap for a healthy and impactful owned channel stack.

  • Use analytics, performance data, and social listening to set performance benchmarks, refine strategies, and optimize content cadence and channel mix.

  • Collaborates across communications, marketing, and business partners to align how our owned channels can support priority campaigns and business outcomes, and to respond quickly to emerging opportunities and issues.

  • Manage day-to-day editorial calendar for Microsoft On the Issues blog and social channels. Including establishing an ROB (rhythm of business) for efficient orchestration of content inputs, production and scheduling.

  • Deliver regular reporting and insights on channel performance, audience engagement, and campaign impact.

  • Drive outreach and amplification across Microsoft owned & operated channels to extend reach beyond our CELA digital channels.

  • Own paid boosting strategy to grow accounts, increase engagement, and drive messaging frequency.

  • Drive enablement sessions (SME training), sharing digital platform expertise that will advance DMC and stakeholders capabilities in digital and social media marketing.



Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 4+ years communications, marketing operations, field operations, program management, project management, or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 3+ years integrated marketing (e.g., digital, relationship, social media, campaign), event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related work experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years' experience using analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Sprinklr, Adobe Analytics, Adobe Customer Journey Analytics) to conduct analysis, develop recommendations and inform strategy.
  • 5+ years of experience in digital strategy, channel management, or marketing communications OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience developing and executing multi-channel digital strategies across web and social platforms.
  • Familiarity with content management systems, social media platforms, and publishing workflows.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across multi-functional internal and external teams and varying levels of experience.
  • Experience in public affairs, policy communications, or advocacy environments.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, SEO, and digital UX best practices.
  • Experience managing executive social media programs or high-profile accounts.


Communications IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
