Overview

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager (Level 64) to lead the Microsoft Loop engineering team in Prague, responsible for building and delivering next‑generation collaborative experiences within Microsoft Teams. This role will own the end‑to‑end execution of Loop platform capabilities that power real‑time, embedded collaboration across chat, channels, and connected Microsoft 365 experiences. The successful candidate will lead a high‑performing team of engineers to design, build, and operate scalable, reliable services that integrate deeply with the Teams messaging substrate, while partnering closely with product, design, and platform teams across geographies to deliver impactful customer‑facing innovation aligned with our agent‑driven collaboration strategy.

Responsibilities
  • As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead the Prague‑based Loop engineering team in delivering high‑quality, reliable, and scalable collaboration features that are tightly integrated into the Teams ecosystem.
  • You will be responsible for driving technical execution across the full feature lifecycle—from architecture and design through development, release, and ongoing operational excellence—while ensuring alignment with broader messaging platform investments.
  • In addition to owning delivery commitments and customer outcomes, you will build and grow a diverse team of engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • You will collaborate with cross‑functional partners across product, design, compliance, and platform teams to translate strategic vision into execution plans, manage technical dependencies, and ensure that Loop capabilities meet enterprise‑grade performance, privacy, and reliability standards.
  • The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience managing engineering teams or mentoring engineers in a technical lead role, delivering distributed cloud services or large‑scale collaboration platforms, along with a solid technical foundation in modern service‑oriented architecture and client‑service integration patterns.
  • You should bring proven leadership experience in hiring, mentoring, and growing high‑performing engineering teams, coupled with the ability to drive execution in complex, cross‑organizational environments with multiple stakeholders and dependencies.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience working on messaging platforms, real‑time collaboration systems, or enterprise productivity software is highly desirable.
  • Solid collaboration skills and the ability to influence technical direction across partner teams are essential, as is experience delivering customer‑facing features that require high reliability, compliance awareness, and operational rigor.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • People management experience.
  • Experience working on real‑time collaboration platforms, distributed document or content‑synchronization systems, or enterprise SaaS productivity environments such as messaging, meeting, or co‑authoring experiences is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with client‑service architecture patterns, cloud‑native development on Azure, and modern DevOps or SRE practices will be valuable in enabling scalable and resilient Loop platform investments.
  • Prior experience leading platform engineering initiatives that integrate across multiple product surfaces (e.g., Teams, Office, or extensibility frameworks), as well as experience operating within globally distributed development organizations, will further position candidates for success in driving cross‑team alignment and execution across Microsoft 365 collaboration scenarios.
