Overview

As a Microsoft Data Center Inventory & Asset Technician (DIAT), you will perform cycle audits, execute incoming/outgoing deliveries, coordinate security escorts for third-party vendors, and document inbound and outbound deliveries as instructed by management. You will initiate warranty claims and process returns on failed equipment. Responsibilities

Role Overview:

The Datacenter Inventory & Asset Technician (DIAT) is responsible for end‑to‑end lifecycle management of datacenter inventory and assets. This role requires regular physical handling of materials and movement of inventory between Store House and Datacenter (DC) Halls, in addition to inventory accuracy and system updates.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Receiving & Physical Material Handling (Mandatory)

  • Physically receive datacenter materials, verify quantities against PO/ASN/invoice, and unload items.
  • Perform physical movement, lifting, carrying, and placement of materials to:
    • Store House locations
    • Datacenter (DC) Halls / White Space
  • Stack, arrange, and organize inventory in designated storage racks and DC locations as per layout and safety guidelines.
  • Support deployment activities by physically staging and delivering materials to required DC floor locations.

Inventory & Asset Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Perform cycle counts, spot checks, and full physical inventory audits.
  • Tag, label, and track assets accurately across Store House and DC Halls.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and variances.

Logistics, Dispatch & Escalation

  • Coordinate with vendors, Cloud Logistics, and transportation teams for inbound/outbound shipments.
  • Identify and escalate physical shortages, damages, or mis-shipments via standard channels.
  • Support RMA, scrap, redeployment, and decommissioning activities, including physical handling.

Safety, Compliance & Access

  • Follow all Microsoft EHS, safety, PPE, and access control requirements.
  • Be comfortable working inside DC environments, including:
    • Cold/hot aisle environments
    • Controlled-access areas
  • Report safety concerns or physical handling risks immediately.

Essential Physical & Work Requirements

This role requires the ability to:

  • Perform regular physical activity including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying materials.
  • Move inventory between Store House and DC Halls multiple times per shift.
  • Handle IT equipment, racks, components, and packaged materials safely.
  • Work in datacenter environments for extended periods.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Diploma / Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, logistics, or datacenter environments.
  • Willingness and ability to perform hands-on physical work as a core part of the role.
