To support the continued scale-up and stabilization of fabrication operations in Lyngby, Denmark, we are seeking a Senior Process Engineer with strong UHV experience and a background in superconductor and/or semiconductor materials, preferably from an industrial or production-oriented R&D environment.

This role is hands-on and engineering-intensive, with primary responsibility for running and owning manufacturing processes, while also driving development work and implementing mature processes into the Plan of Record (POR) flow. The Senior Process Engineer provides end-to-end ownership of fabrication processes operated under UHV conditions, blending execution with process development, qualification, and POR alignment.
Responsibilities
Fabricate quantum devices using UHV‑based nanofabrication and deposition processes.
Drive process development and transition of mature processes into the POR.
Monitor, control, and maintain fabrication process flows, with a focus on improving process quality and control. This includes yield tracking, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support root cause analysis or failure mode investigations related to device quality and fabrication processes.
Troubleshoot operational issues and participate in planning and execution of UHV tool maintenance.
Qualifications
MSc with relevant experience or PhD in Materials Science, Engineering, or Physics.
Significant hands-on experience with UHV-based nanofabrication and process development of superconducting and/or semiconductor materials.
Experience with superconductor and/or semiconductor materials characterization techniques used to assess structural, interfacial, and electrical performance relevant to process quality and device behavior.
Demonstrated experience as process owner for UHV deposition tools, including maintenance planning, tool qualifications, and change control.
Self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to deliver results in a highly challenging environment.
Ability to generate insight from data and apply data-driven decision-making.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, with strong teamwork capabilities.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Ability to leverage AI tools to drive innovation and efficiency (e.g., performance modeling and analysis, research gathering, day to day task automation).
- Ability to work in an “AI-first” environment using modern AI tools to accelerate discovery through hardware development.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
