The Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions (MCAPS) AI Transformation Office (AITO) is driving a fundamental shift in how Microsoft’s commercial business operates—enabling sellers to accelerate their own AI transformation with credibility and trust built from our experience as customer zero. This transformation requires bold, human-centered, AI-first change motions that accelerate adoption, reshape culture, and scale new ways of working across the organization.

We are seeking a Director, AI Transformation Change & Adoption to play a leadership role in defining and driving our change and adoption strategy for AI Transformation at scale. This leader will build, develop, and manage a high-performing team of change professionals, setting the strategic direction for driving culture, mindset, and behavior change across MCAPS.

Each day is different in the AI Transformation organization. This role requires someone who is self-motivated, adaptable, and proactive, with comfort navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced, heavily matrixed environment. Clear and effective communication skills and a focus on delivering high-quality results are essential. Team members are expected to operate with a growth mindset grounded in integrity, inclusivity, and trust. In this role, the Director will partner with executive and cross-functional leaders, and field teams to architect and execute change strategies that move thousands of people from awareness to sustained adoption—turning AI potential into measurable business impact.

Responsibilities

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Build, lead, and develop a high‑performing team of change adoption professionals; establish clear vision, priorities, and goals aligned to the AI Transformation strategy

  • Drive execution rigor and accountability to deliver measurable outcomes; coach and mentor direct reports through performance management, talent reviews, and career planning

  • Develop future change leaders by modeling growth mindset behaviors and fostering a psychologically safe, inclusive, and collaborative team culture

  • Strengthen organizational health, employee engagement, and team effectiveness through regular feedback loops and actionable improvement plans

Change Strategy & Execution at Scale

  • Shape and execute an enterprise‑wide change and adoption strategy for AI Transformation, aligned to MCAPS business priorities and executive sponsorship

  • Design scalable change approaches that drive sustained shifts in culture, mindset, and behaviors—moving beyond tool adoption to new ways of working

Customer Zero & Internal Activation

  • Champion Microsoft’s Customer Zero approach by leveraging firsthand experience with AI solutions to inform credible, practical adoption strategies

  • Partner across product, engineering, and enablement teams to design role‑relevant, persona‑based activation experiences that increase AI usage, confidence, and business impact

Stakeholder Engagement & Executive Influence

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on change strategy, organizational readiness, and adoption progress for AI Transformation initiatives

  • Navigate complex, matrixed environments to align stakeholders, resolve competing priorities, and build coalitions that accelerate transformation

Insight Generation, Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Define and operationalize a change adoption measurement framework, linking activities to business outcomes; synthesize insights to inform strategy, executive decision‑making, and continuous improvement

  • Capture and codify lessons learned, best-practices, and emerging patterns to refine change approaches and scale effective adoption models

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Organizational Development, Operations, Communications, or related field AND 8+ years of experience in change and adoption, organizational transformation, program management, business operations, process management, process improvement

    • OR equivalent experience

  • 6+ years management (e.g., people, project, process, vendor, change) experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Organizational Development, Business Administration, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, or related field

  • 10+ years of experience in change management, organizational transformation, program management, or business operations

  • People management experience, including building, leading, and developing high‑performing teams

  • Demonstrated experience driving AI and digital transformation within a technology and/or consulting environment, including leading change and adoption for AI, Copilot, or emerging technology initiatives at scale

  • Proven ability to develop and execute change strategies tied to measurable business outcomes (e.g., revenue growth, productivity gains, customer satisfaction)

  • Influential executive presence with the ability to advise and partner with leadership teams on organizational change

  • Clear, compelling verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging and storytelling for diverse audiences from frontline employees to executive leadership

  • Extensive experience with cross‑group collaboration and negotiation, building partnerships, defining benchmarks, executing initiatives, and influencing change across a global organization while navigating resistance and ambiguity



Business Program Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $303,600 per year.
