Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. Within Azure Data, the Azure Data Analytics team builds the core analytics experiences in Microsoft Fabric. We own the Data Warehouse, Data Engineering, Data Science, AI, and Power BI workloads, enabling customers to ingest, transform, analyze, and derive insights from structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data at enterprise scale. Our team is at the center of Microsoft's strategy to deliver a seamless, end-to-end analytics experience in Fabric.
Our group leads the development of Power BI Mobile apps and Office integrations, bringing analytics experiences directly into users’ everyday workflows across devices and platforms.
We are looking for a Software Quality Engineer who is passionate about software quality, test execution, and improving the reliability of our products.
This role is well suited for someone who enjoys hands-on testing, investigating issues, and working closely with engineers and PMs to make sure quality is built into the development process. Familiarity with automation and interest in modern tooling, including some AI-assisted workflows, is a plus.

Responsibilities
Manual Testing & Validation
- Define, execute, and maintain manual tests for end-to-end, integration, and functional scenarios across Power BI services and clients
- Execute manual and automated testing in complex scenarios, identify gaps in coverage, and help improve overall test effectiveness
- Run exploratory testing to identify product issues, edge cases, responsiveness gaps, and quality problems in complex scenarios
- Support the transition of repeatable test scenarios from manual validation into automation where it provides the most value
Cross-Team Collaboration & Quality - Work closely with Software Engineers, PMs, and designers to understand features, define test coverage, and ensure high product quality
- Identify functional, reliability, and performance issues early through thoughtful test planning and investigation
- Participate in feature reviews, bug triage, and release validation to help maintain a high-quality bar across the product lifecycle
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in software testing, quality engineering, or test automation
- Experience validating client, service, or end-to-end scenarios and investigating product issues
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience working in agile teams with source control and common engineering workflows

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications
- BSc in Computer Science / Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience
- Experience with Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, or analytics products
- Familiarity with web or mobile testing tools and build processes
- Experience testing cloud-based services on Azure or similar platforms
- Interest in automation improvements and familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools
