Overview

As a Critical Environment Program Manager (CEPM), you will own and maintain the operational excellence of critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure in our datacenters, ensuring service continuity, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement in safety, reliability, and efficiency.

We are seeking candidates with demonstrated experience in data center operations or other critical environment settings, including work supporting mission-critical services and high-availability infrastructure. This experience may be developed across a range of industries, including data centers, manufacturing, oil and gas, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or similar critical infrastructure sectors, or through an equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience.

This role is part of our Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team which is the engine that powers our cloud services and delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems within a data center environment, ensuring the effective planning, coordination, and execution of preventative and corrective maintenance programs

  • Ensure uptime and reliability of critical environment systems through proactive monitoring, maintenance oversight, and risk mitigation

  • Lead operational excellence by executing and governing processes such as maintenance procedures, incident reviews (RCAs), and change management

  • Drive safety and compliance, ensuring adherence to Microsoft standards and immediately addressing risks or incidents

  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering teams, vendors, and landlord partners to optimize datacenter performance and resolve issues

  • Identify and reduce risk, minimizing human-error and high-impact incidents year over year

  • Support emergency response readiness, acting as an escalation point for facilities-related incidents

  • Deliver efficiency outcomes by advancing cost optimization and energy efficiency initiatives and support data-driven operations through the accurate measurement and reporting of key metrics, including power, temperature, and service-level (SLA) performance



Qualifications
  • Relevant experience in a specialized area (e.g., mechanical field, electrical field, controls field) or related field.
  • This role requires fluency in reading, writing, and conversational French and English, as all business operations and stakeholder communications are conducted in these languages

  • You will be required to travel between sites as part of this role so a valid driver’s license will be required.

*This role requires you to be on-site, and the location has limited public transport. Your own form of transport is advised.

Background Check Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
