As a Business Program Manager (BPM) within Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) organisation, you will lead and deliver strategic programmes that drive operational excellence, service availability, and continuous improvement across data centre operations.In this role, you will move beyond day-to-day execution to own and shape programmes that improve performance, reduce risk, and enable scale.
You will partner closely with operations, engineering, and business stakeholders to translate organisational priorities into actionable plans, deliver measurable outcomes, and influence decision-making at leadership levels.Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers cloud services such as Azure, Bing, Office 365, Xbox, and OneDrive. You will play a key role in ensuring the infrastructure supporting these services remains reliable, secure, and optimised to meet growing customer demand.
Responsibilities
Programme Leadership & Delivery
- Own and deliver strategic programmes and initiatives aligned to regional and global priorities, including availability, efficiency, safety, and risk reduction
- Define programme scope, objectives, success metrics, and timelines; drive delivery end-to-end across multiple stakeholders
- Manage dependencies, risks, and trade-offs, ensuring programmes remain on track and deliver measurable business impact
Insight & Continuous Improvement
- Analyse operational data, trends, and incident patterns to identify opportunities for improvement
- Proactively bring forward insights and recommendations that shape decision-making and improve service performance
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) reviews at a programme level, ensuring systemic issues are addressed and lessons are embedded
Stakeholder Management & Influence
- Partner with cross-functional teams including site operations, engineering, safety, and leadership to align priorities and drive outcomes
- Influence stakeholders at all levels by providing clear, insight-driven recommendations and navigating competing priorities
- Translate corporate policies and frameworks into practical, regionally relevant execution plans
Operational Excellence
- Drive improvements in service delivery, ensuring alignment to SLA/OLA commitments with minimal customer impact
- Lead initiatives to optimise scheduling, maintenance planning, and resource utilisation
- Ensure alignment with safety, security, and compliance standards while enabling operational agility
Customer & Business Impact
- Maintain a strong focus on customer experience, anticipating potential impacts and driving mitigation strategies
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve reliability, reduce downtime, and enhance service quality
- Deliver clear reporting and insights to stakeholders, including leadership updates on programme progress and outcomes
Qualifications
Required
- Proven experience in programme or project management within a technical, operational, or infrastructure environment
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive measurable outcomes
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Preferred
- Experience in data centre operations, cloud infrastructure, or critical environments (e.g. IT, facilities, engineering)
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Certifications such as PMP, Agile, ITIL, or similar
- Experience driving operational transformation or continuous improvement initiatives
