Client Workspace Engineer

The Client Workspace Engineer will work within the End User Engineering team. The team is responsible for engineering and supporting the firm’s Desktop Workspace across physical, virtual and cloud platforms, including Windows OS, hardware integration, configuration management, application delivery, Citrix XenDesktop / XenApp, Netscaler Remote Access, RSA MFA and Windows IoT Dell WMS Thin client technologies.

We are looking for a Windows desktop engineer with significant Citrix and application management expertise to help us build, implement and support the next generation of enterprise computing workspace. Our vision includes end user desktops being treated as mostly disposable platforms, lightly managed devices whether on premise physical / VDI or off premise, cloud hosted.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Engineering Windows builds, integrating Windows desktop operating systems and core applications
  • Employ automation and rigorous QA methodologies to ensure the delivery of a consistent and reliable Workspace service including maintaining the Windows servicing model.
  • Analyze performance data to provide resources utilization information in support of operational process.
  • Analyzes, plans test, documents and implements regular, advanced or special maintenance activities of systems hardware and software to meet service level agreements with users groups.
  • Strong skills troubleshooting and resolve support issues pertaining to Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop.
  • Participate in the firm’s change, incident, and problem management processes.
  • Create and maintain knowledge base, run books configuration and support documentation.
  • Provide third line technical support, system administration and engineering for our global Windows desktop and Citrix environment with components such as XenDesktop. XenApp, Storefront, RSA and NetScaler.
  • Packaging and on boarding of new applications in the Windows desktop and Citrix XenApp environment.

Qualifications and Required Skills

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Substantial experience with Windows desktop and Citrix technologies covering administration, maintenance and deployments in an enterprise-engineering role.
  • Excellent scripting and / or programming experience e.g. PowerShell, .NET, C#, C++
  • Show understanding of and be proficient using github, jira, confluence
  • Thorough knowledge of VMware ESX, VC.
  • Thorough knowledge of Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop technologies.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience of software packaging tools (e.g. InstallShield, App-V, Wise).
  • Thorough knowledge of Acronis or other enterprise backup / P2V software
  • Thorough understanding and experience of common native Windows infrastructure components and configuration management I.e. Active Directory / GPO.
  • Experience supporting multi-factor technologies (e.g. RSA, Okta).
  • Experience integrating the latest Windows features and deployment strategies.
  • Experience with third party management tools in large-scale environments including Symantec Altiris, Citrix XenApp / XenDesktop, InTune and Dell WMS.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Systrack, LiquidWare, App-v, login VSI and Office 365 is desirable.
  • Knowledge of delivering stateless desktops with streamed application or layered applications using Citrix App Layering or similar technologies is desirable.
  • Engineering experience with images, packages and policies for Windows IoT thin clients with Dell WMS would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of Citrix NetScaler with Insight/Command Center and NMAS would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of Citrix StoreFront multi region and RSA multi-factor would be a plus.
  • Quick learner, detail oriented; demonstrate thoroughness and strong ownership of work.
  • Strong troubleshooting mind-set (i.e. parsing event log, Sysinternals tools, dump analysis).
  • Excellent team-working, collaboration and inter-personal skills
