Low Latency Network Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our latency-critical trading infrastructure team in the Bangalore office. As part of our global team of network engineers spanning AMER, EMEA, and APAC, you will be responsible for the architecture, design, development, deployment, and support of Millennium’s high-performance global trading networks, which require exceptional uptime and utilize cutting-edge technologies. This role involves designing, implementing, and operating network solutions in datacenters (both co-located and remote) worldwide, focusing on market data and order entry.
Principal Responsibilities
Senior Engineering Role: Focus on low-latency network technologies, balancing project management and operational tasks within the low-latency trading environment, including market data, trading, and co-location design.
Project Management: Own and manage global network projects from inception to completion, including requirement gathering, design, cost analysis, and implementation.
Innovation Lead: Research and introduce new network technologies to the firm, such as RF technologies, low-latency transport, routing/switching, and compute technologies.
Network Configuration and Support: Configure, install, maintain, and support critical software and hardware components of the network. Research, price, and implement data circuits. Design and implement high-availability, low-latency market data networks.
High Precision Timing: Implement and maintain high precision timing protocols such as PTP (Precision Time Protocol) and PPS (Pulse Per Second) to ensure network accuracy and synchronization.
Network Infrastructure: Deploy, support, and troubleshoot the network infrastructure. Document IT infrastructure, policies, and procedures, and provide general user support. Participate in after-hours work and an on-call rotation.
Qualifications/Skills Required
Expert in low latency network technologies – Including Multicast (IGMP, PIM), L2/L3, WAN Design, expert in routing.
Expert in data capture setup, timestamping knowledge and aggregation configuration.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a network engineering, operations, and support.
Experience with Arista, Cisco and Layer 1 switches. Knowledge of FPGA and high-performance computer technology is a plus.
Proven ability to work hands on and take on a strong technical ownership capability in a global organization.
Expert knowledge and troubleshooting of IP networking, TCP/IP.
Experience with Python and bash. Knowledge of scripting to automate tasks.
Strong Linux shell experience.
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
Proven ability operating in a fast-paced environment.
Passion for providing a high level of service and support to internal customers.
