Workspace Mac Engineer

Role Overview

The Workspace Mac Engineer will be part of the End User Engineering team responsible for designing and supporting the firm’s Desktop Workspace across physical, virtual, and cloud platforms. This role focuses on engineering and supporting the macOS ecosystem while ensuring seamless integration with enterprise infrastructure, high standards of security, reliability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Mac Engineering & Management:

  • Engineer macOS builds and configurations compatible with enterprise infrastructure.
  • Administer JAMF Pro for macOS device management, including policies, profiles, and workflows.
  • Manage macOS devices using Microsoft Intune, ensuring compliance and application deployment.
  • Implement macOS security policies (e.g., FileVault, Gatekeeper, System Integrity Protection).
  • Integrate macOS devices with Active Directory and hybrid identity systems.
  • Automate workflows using scripting languages like Bash, Python, and AppleScript.
  • Manage Apple hardware lifecycle (procurement, provisioning, secure decommissioning).

General Workspace Engineering:

  • Develop disaster recovery solutions for Windows and macOS platforms (using tools like Acronis and VMware).
  • Optimize performance and resource utilization across Workspace systems.
  • Troubleshoot virtualization issues (e.g., Citrix VDA integration) for Mac and Windows environments.
  • Create and maintain documentation, including configuration guides and knowledge bases.

Collaboration & Training:

  • Collaborate with global IT teams to integrate macOS and Windows systems seamlessly.
  • Provide third-line technical support for macOS and Windows platforms.
  • Train end-users on macOS workflows and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of enterprise desktop engineering experience (macOS and Windows).
  • 5+ years of macOS device management using JAMF Pro and Microsoft Intune.
  • Expertise in scripting (e.g., Bash, Python, AppleScript) for automation and customization.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for macOS and Apple hardware.
  • Experience integrating macOS with Active Directory and hybrid identity systems.
  • Knowledge of Apple hardware lifecycle management.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

  • JAMF Pro Certification (Admin or higher).
  • Microsoft Intune Certification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Apple Business Manager and automated device enrollment.
  • Familiarity with virtualization tools like VMware ESX, Citrix XenDesktop, and XenServer.
  • Knowledge of tools like GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Systrack, and Office 365.
