Overview of the M&A Team

The EMEA M&A team at Moelis & Company, led by Managing Director Chris Raff, provides strategic advisory services on complex domestic and cross-border merger and acquisition transactions. The team advises corporates, entrepreneurs, and financial sponsors across a broad range of sectors, partnering with industry coverage teams to deliver differentiated, high-impact advice.

The London-based M&A team is known for its analytical rigor, commercial judgment, and collaborative approach. We work on high-profile, often highly complex transactions, frequently involving multiple jurisdictions and stakeholders. Associates are given meaningful responsibility early on, with direct exposure to senior bankers and clients.

Position Description:

We are seeking an Associate to join our EMEA M&A Investment Banking team in London. The Associate will play a central role in the execution of M&A transactions, supporting all aspects of deal origination, structuring, and execution. The role requires strong financial and analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Play a key role in the execution of M&A transactions across multiple sectors, taking responsibility for financial analysis, valuation workstreams, preparation of client presentations, and coordination of deal processes and documentation
  • Work on a broad range of strategic advisory mandates for UK and European corporates, including both public and private M&A transactions and bid defence
  • Build and apply valuation models based on detailed financial research and analysis, including comparable company analysis, discounted cash flow analysis and precedent transaction analysis
  • Prepare high-quality analytical and presentation materials to support internal valuation committee process
  • Review and oversee analysts’ work product, ensuring accuracy, consistency and quality across financial models and client materials
  • Gain direct exposure to senior bankers and clients, with significant responsibility from day one

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 3 years of investment banking experience in M&A or a closely related advisory role
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven team player able to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and interact with senior bankers and clients
  • Strong multi-tasking and project management skills
  • Experience in public M&A (including UK Takeover Code) preferred
