IST (Institutional Securities Technology)

Institutional Securities Technology (IST) develops and oversees the overall technology strategy and bespoke technology solutions to drive and enable the institutional businesses and enterprise-wide functions. IST’s ‘clients’ include Fixed Income, Equities, Commodities, Investment Banking, Research, Prime Brokerage and Global Capital Markets.

ESTAR

Develops trading & Analytics platform for IST, structured OTC Trading, Market Making & risk platform
for IED

Technical Specialist

This is a Vice President position within our Technical Specialist function, which is responsible for providing extensive subject matter expertise and reinforcing the ability of business and technology audit teams to appropriately assess risk and determine and execute coverage.

What you’ll do in the role:

As the business continues to grow, we are undertaking a program of change to increase our external connectivity via REST and FIX; as well as a strong focus on improving our pricing tools. We are looking to build out a cloud ready, horizontally scalable pricing system with zero downtime and single click deployment capability. This is an opportunity to get involved in shaping the pricing strategy and tooling.
Reflecting the global nature of our business and systems, the team is distributed between London, New York, Montreal, Hong Kong and Mumbai. We are active in many out of work activities both socially and volunteering our time through various firm sponsored initiatives.

Globally distributed n-tier platform deployed across Tokyo, Hong Kong, London and New York
Utilization of the latest Firm technologies including Treadmill PaaS, Splunk-based LaaS and Service Discovery


Roles & Responsibilities:
• You will be a proficient Java developer, who will be hands on, in a delivery focused role.
• You will be mentoring the developer.
• You will be involved in the design and architecture of the system
• You will have strong product knowledge of equity derivatives and ideally structured products and OTC's.
• You will have strong communications skills to build a strong relationship with business stakeholders including sales, trading and quants.
• You will be a proactive member of an agile development team, focusing on efficient application delivery to meet business KPI's.
• You will encourage innovation and set technical guardrails for the development team.
• You will help develop and lead the technology strategy within the department, as well as ensuring it aligns with the global technology strategy.
• Opportunity to work with front end application development in HTML 5, Angular and scripting in python.
• You will help implement and ensure the team follows SDLC best practices.

What you’ll bring to the role:

• Experience designing and architecting high throughput large scale distributed system.
• Hands on experience working on the Java, spring boot language.
• Experience with application integration, software design patterns, frameworks, unit testing, automated testing, performance / memory analysis, and n-tier service-oriented architecture.
• Experience of Agile development techniques and a deep understanding of systems engineering, build and release management principles including continuous integration and continuous delivery.
• Test-Driven Development (TDD) experience.
• Experience in sales and trading platforms in Equities / FX / Fixed Income / Derivatives domain would be a plus.
