We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Vice President in our International Tax Operations. The International Tax Utility is a team of 68 people across 6 locations (Glasgow, Mumbai, London, Frankfurt, Hong Kong & New York) that supports the firm in managing its tax obligations by owning and driving forward the Operational Tax Risk and Control framework. Maintaining and enhancing the internal operating processes and procedures of the division is crucial to safeguarding the firm’s franchise, proactively identifying, and reporting on tax risks.

Proactively controlling and mitigating Operational Tax Risk, the team performs a various control function over a variety of Operational taxes generated by trading activities across multiple businesses.

What you’ll do in the role:

An opportunity has arisen within the International Tax Utility space for a full-time VP to join the team, to assist in the day to day processing and supervision of multiple Operational Tax obligations, including but not limited to Withholding Tax, Transaction Tax and Capital Gains Tax. In order to effectively execute Operational Tax requirements from both a Firm and client perspective, this role will involve a number of different elements, including reconciliation, risk identification and remediation, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and operational deadlines. Amongst other deliverables, the team manage the Operational Tax Voucher production, Tax reclaim and certification process, ensuring successful payment and reporting of Operational Tax obligations across global markets and ensure on-going compliance with new regulations.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Production and oversight of the Withholding Tax voucher process across global markets and jurisdictions.
  • Reconciliation of complex firm tax reclaims across various global markets.
  • Review and tracking of Operational Tax submissions (payment, reporting, reclaims, certification) to ensure in good order with tax authorities.
  • · Control of client tax offerings and liaising with the relevant BU to ensure compliance. Supporting client requests with the preparation of tax related documentation to be submitted on a timely basis.
  • · Adhering to and completing various operational tax reporting obligations (including Common Reporting Standards) for the global markets and jurisdictions supported by the team.
  • · Arranging tax treatment of firm accounts held with depositaries and custodian banks.
  • · Support of the risk framework, analysing Key Risk Indicators and providing regular updates to senior management on any key risk items.
  • · Supervision and control of processes outsourced to external vendor.
  • · Supporting the technology strategy to improve systemic tax processing and renovation.
  • · Coordination of Tax Authority audits and request for information.
  • · Communicating and collaborating with Tax Authorities, Internal Legal, Compliance and Corporate Tax functions.
  • · Adherence to Operational Control Frameworks including effective procedures, checklists and metrics
  • · Effective people management including 121’s, management of KPDs and succession planning and training.
  • hat you’ll bring to the role:

  • · High proficiency and working experience in Operational Tax processes – Withholding Tax, Transaction tax, CRS
  • · Experience in any Operations discipline could be beneficial, and in particular experience of Settlements, Asset Services and Trade Support roles would be advantageous.
  • · Ability to execute on deployments and grow India teams successfully
  • · Strong stakeholder network and ability to work in a global matrix organization
  • · Strong leadership skills that demonstrate process and team management abilities
  • · Ability to proactively identify process risks and implement mitigating controls/ reduce manual touchpoints
  • · Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
  • · Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • · High regard for attention to detail, accuracy & quality.
  • · Ability to grasp detailed concepts quickly.
  • · Able to collate, present & critically analyse data.
  • · Ability to provide clear supervisory oversight, and assume responsibility for escalation of risk items.
  • · Highly committed, dynamic & self-motivated with professional outlook.
  • · High level Microsoft Office proficiency
  • · Experience in reviewing, analysing, or testing system developments and technology requirements would also be of benefit.
