The role will reside within Firm Risk Management's Credit Risk Management (CRM) Department covering Securitized Product Group (SPG) lending products. SPG lending covers all asset backed lending such as financing against pool of commercial real estate mortgages, residential mortgages, consumer loans, single family rental properties, digital infrastructure assets and lending against private credit loans. CRM acts an independent 2nd line of defense function within the firm and interacts with business units to ensure that credit risk assessments are factored into business decisions. CRM evaluates credit risk transactions and approves, rejects or modifies them considering the availability and appropriateness of arrangements for reducing risk or risk mitigation. The department also assigns internal credit ratings; establishes and manages credit risk limits in accordance with the risk tolerance established by the Board; monitors and reports on credit risk exposures on a regular basis to the Chief Risk Officer and senior management. CRM also interacts with business units to ensure that credit risk assessments are factored into business decisions.

Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model and other risks.

What will you be doing?
• Evaluate new transactions, including an independent assessment and recommendation on the credit quality, proposed rating and alignment of the new lending opportunity to the Firm's credit appetite
• Collaborate with the origination team on structuring and setting-up the contractual framework for transactions
• Prepare materials for Credit Senior Management and the Firm's Credit Committee for discussion and approval of transactions
• Monitor the existing portfolio of transactions, including periodic reporting of risk profiles, trends, industry developments, concentrations and conducting downside scenario analysis
• Prepare timely and insightful annual and quarterly reviews, including the assessment of performance against underwritten base case projections and key credit metrics
• Review of due diligence materials and involvement in due diligence sessions, including asset site visits and review of appraisals/valuations
• Review and verify compliance certificates, debt covenants, and financial accounts and ensure adherence to credit and other relevant internal policies and practices

What we’re looking for:
• Bachelors degree or equivalent
• Experience in credit risk covering either asset backed lending such as real estate lending, corporate lending or warehouse lending including loans on residential mortgages, non-performing loans, single family rental / residential assets
• Strong knowledge of the lending process, transaction structures and facility documentation e.g. term sheets and facility agreements
• Understanding of financial markets, financing instruments, associated legal documentation and risk mitigating structures
• Knowledge of basic accounting / financial concepts and familiarity with credit metrics

Skills that will help you in the role:
• The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, both written and verbally
• The ability to work independently in a self-directed way in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
• An interest in working in a fast-paced environment, often balancing multiple high priority deliverables
• Strong attention to detail and ability to provide information in usable formats (proficiency in Microsoft office, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
• Strong analytical skills; experience in financial analysis and modelling (preferred)
• Fluency in English is required, plus another European language (preferred).
