Position Summary
Calvert is seeking a Vice President to support its Institutional Services & Strategy group. The role is a hybrid Portfolio Specialist, Client Service, and Content Development role supporting the institutional client channel. This individual will act as a key partner to Portfolio Managers, Calvert’s Research and Engagement teams, Sales, and Marketing, helping to position Calvert’s strategies effectively with institutional clients globally.

The role requires strong asset management expertise, commercial acumen, and the ability to translate complex investment concepts into clear, compelling institutional client narratives. The successful candidate will combine product knowledge, institutional client relationship management, business development support, and oversight of investment-related content to drive client engagement, retention, and growth. The Vice President will also have an opportunity to mentor and coach junior staff.

A strong understanding of asset management, portfolio construction, and institutional mandates is essential. Familiarity with responsible investing is preferred along with deep investment expertise and understanding of asset management. The individual will report to the Head of Responsible Investing Strategy, Americas and have the opportunity to coach and possibly lead other members of the team.

Key Responsibilities
1. Portfolio Specialist & Investment Positioning

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on assigned Calvert investment strategies and capabilities

  • Partner with Portfolio Managers and Research Analysts to articulate investment philosophy, process, positioning, and performance drivers

  • Represent strategies in institutional client meetings, consultant presentations, and industry conferences

  • Translate portfolio positioning, market developments, and performance attribution into clear, client-ready messaging

  • Maintain strong awareness of competitive positioning, peer landscape, and institutional market trends

2. Institutional Client Relationship Management

  • Assist in responding to investment-related inquiries from clients and consultants, supporting the team in delivering accurate and timely information.

  • Help proactively communicate performance updates, portfolio positioning, market developments, and emerging themes to clients, working alongside senior team members.

  • Contribute to maintaining strong relationships with institutional clients and investment consultants by supporting high service standards and addressing client needs.

  • Work with colleagues to identify opportunities to deepen engagement with existing clients through educational initiatives, thought leadership, and strategic discussions.

  • Support the team in onboarding new clients and participating in ongoing due diligence processes as needed.

3. Business Development & Sales Support

  • Partner closely with Institutional Sales to support new business efforts

  • Participate in prospect meetings, finals presentations, and consultant reviews

  • Contribute to strategic account planning and pipeline development

  • Provide investment expertise in RFP responses, consultant questionnaires, and due diligence materials

  • Educate Sales and Marketing colleagues on strategy positioning, differentiators, and market developments

4. Content Strategy & Production

  • Contribute to the development and oversight of institutional investment content, including fund commentaries, pitchbooks, one-pagers, market insights, white papers, and thought leadership materials

  • Support consistency, accuracy, and alignment of messaging across institutional client communications

  • Collaborate with Marketing, Product Management, and Compliance to assist in managing content approval workflows and timelines

  • Help develop scalable content frameworks that connect investment performance and portfolio positioning to Calvert’s broader investment philosophy

  • Support institutional campaigns and events by ensuring content is accessible, rigorous, and tailored to institutional audiences

Qualifications

  • 6–10+ years of experience at an asset manager or financial services firm

  • Strong understanding of institutional asset management, portfolio construction, performance attribution, and institutional mandates

  • Familiarity with responsible investing and sustainable investing approaches

  • Experience in a portfolio specialist, product specialist, client portfolio manager, or similar institutional-facing role preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex investment concepts clearly and effectively to institutional audiences

  • Strong commercial orientation and client-facing confidence

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation experience

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong judgment, problem-solving capability, and cross-functional collaboration skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $140,000 and $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
