We're seeking someone to join our team as a Vice President to lead Finance Data Governance topics within Morgan Stanley Europe SE “MSESE”.
In this role, the Finance Data Governance lead will drive data quality initiatives and governance locally, working closely with Global teams, the implementation of the Firm’s Data Strategy of automation and strengthening of Data Quality Controls (DQC), ensuring the accuracy and completeness of data consumed across the Finance organization. The role requires a strong blend of strategic leadership and disciplined execution, with the ability to drive alignment across stakeholders.
In the Finance division, we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management, review, analysis and advisory services of the Firm's financial and capital resources. This is a Vice President level position within the relevant Finance Data Governance and Control framework.
The MSESE Finance COO function has four teams including the Data Governance function, all located in Frankfurt. The role holder will have a co-reporting line into the Global Finance Data Organisation.
The Finance Department reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm’s books and records and by contributing to Firm wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley’s various industry and government regulators and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley’s various businesses and its senior management team.

What you'll do in the role
- Reporting locally to the MSESE Group Finance Chief Operating Officer (COO) and functionally to the Global Finance Lead for Data Policy, Governance and Issue Management, support and represent the MSESE Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and wider MSESE Finance management team with regards to Data Governance matters across all Finance divisions within MSESE
- Act as single point of contact for all Finance divisional Data Governance topics within MSESE working closely with the Global Finance Data Office and other stakeholders
- Provide strategic leadership for MSESE‑focused data quality initiatives, coordinating across MSESE Finance and Global Finance Data Governance teams to drive compliance with Firm standards throughout scoping, execution, and post‑implementation maintenance
- Represent MSESE Finance at both local and global Data forums and committees as well as globally lead transformation projects and where appropriate with local regulators
- Co-ordinate and where appropriate implement BCBS239 compliance requirements within MSESE Finance locally
- Working closely with Global Finance Data teams and programmes act as local MSESE Finance lead with respect to the implementation of the Firmwide Data Strategy
- Lead and own all local regulatory submissions relating specifically to Data Quality and Governance matters
- Perform annual critical report and metric assessment across Finance
- Supervise outsourced data quality services
What you'll bring in the role
- 10+ years of experience in banking, financial control, regulatory reporting or data governance
- Understanding of capital, liquidity and financial regulatory reporting frameworks
- Strong knowledge of BCBS 239, enterprise data governance and regulatory reporting architectures
- Expertise in data governance, data quality, and controls, including familiarity with largescale data environments and cloud based platforms
- Understanding of Finance functions, industry dynamics, key risks, and relevant regulatory frameworks, or experience delivering technology solutions for stakeholders within a banking environment.
- Strong risk and control mindset, with experience identifying, managing, and mitigating risks impacting the functional area
- Proven experience influencing senior stakeholders globally across Finance, Risk, Technology and Operations
- Ability to create meaningful, articulate documentation for use at all levels including executive and board level
- Strong planning and organisation skills
- A collaborative and participative style
- Fluency in English language and German advantageous
- Candidates with a Technology or Quantitative background are also encouraged to apply
