We are seeking a high‑performing Senior Associate / Junior Director (AVP‑equivalent) to join the Internal Audit Division (IAD) covering the MSESE Group across Europe, including key affiliates and branches. This role focuses on evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of controls across a range of financial products and services, with particular emphasis on Second Line of Defense functions such as Global Financial Crimes (AML, KYC and Fraud), Compliance, Legal, Outsourcing and Operational Risk.
The Internal Audit Division provides independent assurance over the Firm’s risk management, governance, and control processes. Through risk‑focused audit coverage, the team identifies vulnerabilities, assesses control effectiveness, and delivers impactful insights to senior management to strengthen the Firm’s overall control environment.
This position offers exposure to senior stakeholders, regulatory expectations across multiple jurisdictions, and evolving financial crime risks, providing an excellent opportunity to develop technical expertise and audit leadership within a dynamic and high‑impact environment.

What will you be doing?
- Identify and evaluate inherent risk categories and perform risk assessments at an entity and at a process level in line with applicable Internal Audit practices.
- Execute audit activities in line with audit test programs, aligned to internal standards and within agreed timelines.
- Lead walkthrough meetings and discussions with auditees for the purpose of developing audit test programs and identifying control deficiencies.
- Write clear and concise audit reports and findings and communicate those to the Audit lead and senior client management.
- Work with regional and /or global audit teams to ensure timely and effective completion of audit activities.
- Perform closure verification of Management’s implementation of remedial actions in line with internal standards.
- Assist in maintaining the Audit Universe for the Non-Financial Risk areas for the entity.
- Engage with senior stakeholders through continuous monitoring meetings to discuss emerging risks, issues and key changes that impact the Non-Financial Risk areas
What we’re looking for:
- A minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience, with experience in Global Financial Crimes (including AML, KYC, and Fraud) considered a plus
- Strong understanding of audit principles, methodology, tools and processes (e.g., risk assessments, planning, testing, reporting and continuous monitoring) would be advantageous
- Experience in regulated German Banking entities or EU financial institution is essential
- Solid understanding of key financial industry regulations such as the EU Money Laundering Directive, German Money Laundering Act, German Securities Trading Act or BaFin’s Minimum requirements of Risk Management (MaRisk) or MaComp considered a plus
- Good understanding of Financial Crime, Fraud, Compliance, legal , outsourcing and/or operational risks.
- University degree (or equivalent) preferred
Skills that will help you in the role:
- Industry certifications such as CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) or CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) are advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to use innovative Data Analytic audit techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to present complex and sensitive matters to senior management.
- English language skills required (speaking, reading, and writing at an advanced level), German and other European language skills are beneficial.
