Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Technology leader to lead the global General Ledger Reference Data organization within Finance Technology, partnering with the Global Finance Lead. The role will be responsible for setting strategy, delivering technology solutions, and developing a high‑performing engineering team. This position is ideal for a hands‑on leader who blends strong Finance domain knowledge with technical depth and modern engineering practices. The GLRD technology team is global organization.

The ideal candidate would be a forward‑thinking, hands‑on technology leader who brings deep Finance understanding, strong engineering skills, and passion for using modern data and AI to transform how Finance operates at Morgan Stanley.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Day to day management of the GLRD Technology team
  • Define and execute the technology strategy for the global GLRD organization
  • Partner closely with the Head of Finance Reference Data leadership on priorities, requirements, and transformation initiatives
  • Drive modernization of GLRD systems, workflows, and data through engineering excellence, automation, and AI
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing global team
  • Develop the GLRD Technology team

Execution & Delivery

  • Oversee architecture, design, development, testing, and deployment of GLRD platforms
  • Ensure system scalability, data quality, resiliency, and operational control
  • Promote best practices in workflow automation, DevOps, and data engineering

Required Skills

  • Finance Domain Expertise. Experience in Finance Technology. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Data Management, Governance and Workflows.
  • Prior roles leading teams of 15+ technologists within financial services or complex enterprises
  • Hands-on engineering leadership and problem‑solving
  • Strong data engineering and data modelling experience
  • Excellent communicator across senior and junior colleagues
  • Strong listening, influencing, and relationship‑building abilities
  • Highly organized, flexible, and able to operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven people manager with experience growing and motivating teams
  • Ability to manage large numbers of consumers with evolving requirements.

Desired skills

  • Experience applying AI/ML to business workflows, analytics, or automation
  • Proficiency with workflow tools and Microsoft technologies
  • Experience modernizing legacy platforms and integrating with enterprise data environments

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $160,000 and $230,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
