Technical Business Analyst

We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Technical Business Analyst to support drive the requirements, execution of the technical redesign and strategy of our platform to meet the goals of the business and delivery/implementation. Candidates should be fluent in spring, databases, and database interface layers and associated Java development tools. Candidate will interface on a regular basis with other teams including other internal IT teams across Wealth Management, BA team, QA team, and global development team. To be successful, the role will require the individual to understand the banking technology landscape, and to offer creative solutions that integrate current capabilities, vendor capabilities, proprietary system builds, and the ability to adapt to changing business requirements.

This is a Technical Business Analyst position, which is part of the job family responsible for analyzing business processes, identifying needs, and establishing requirements to enhance efficiency and productivity through a blend of business acumen and analytical skills.

What you'll do in the role:
Document business and functional requirements, business rules, and User Stories and Epics.
Analyze business processes, functions and procedures across multiple business units.
Understand and document data requirements for banking products and Downstream impact.
Create documentation that outlines data lineage and a framework for data governance.
Become a subject matter expert for banking product data. Assist data consumers, development teams by undertaking data research/analysis tasks and answering questions about the data.
Work with the developers to define/document existing application infrastructure / architecture.
Assist with QA/Testing to review/refine test plans and create more detailed test cases.
Support in responding to Audit queries related to Business process and IT implementation.
Work with the project team and business to identify and resolve issues that arise during projects or as part of day to day business operations.
Proactively manage changes in scope, identify potential risks, and devise contingency plans.
Build, develop, and grow relationships with IT and areas vital to the success of the project.
Lead all aspects of Business Requirements from elicitation to business process flow mapping to proposing new functionalities to users for optimizing their processes.
Conduct analysis, scope estimation and impact analysis working with cross-functional teams.
Create, maintain and groom the Product Backlog, writing User Stories defining acceptance criteria, thereby enabling new functionalities in BMO area.
Drive Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions with the Business Stakeholders, system architects and technical analysts.
Identify vertical and horizontal integration touch points. Call out dependencies and risks to ensure smooth development.
What you'll bring to the role:
At least 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or similar role within a large banking organization or major consulting firm.
Strong experience working in Agile Scrum and/or Kanban environments.
Proven ability to gather, analyze, and document business requirements, functional requirements, business rules, user stories, and epics.
Experience supporting or working with REST API-based platforms and translating business needs into technical solutions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex business requirements and translate them into actionable outcomes.
Experience conducting process analysis and documenting end-to-end business and system workflows.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across business and technology teams.
Solid understanding of enterprise technology environments, including applications, platforms, databases, and technology delivery processes.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Visio, Word, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of UNIX/Linux environments and scripting languages.
Familiarity with Big Data and data streaming technologies, such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, HDFS, Kafka, and related ecosystem tools.
Working knowledge of Scala, Spark, or PySpark and open-source technologies.
Experience with JIRA or other ALM tools within Agile delivery teams.
Understanding of financial markets, banking, and wealth management.
Experience collaborating with stakeholders across different geographies and time zones.
Prior experience in the Financial Services industry is preferred.
Exposure to front-end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, or Angular is a plus.
