Placement and duration

The Off-Cycle Internship is an opportunity to experience the culture and atmosphere in the Investment Management Division by taking on some of the responsibilities and functions of a Full-time Analyst for a short period.

The internship will commence in January 2027 and typically lasts 6 months. This internship will offer you an exciting and a dynamic work environment where you get to work alongside our diverse group of experienced professionals. The work that you do will be interesting and varied.

Team Descriptions

Candidates who apply to the Investment Management Fixed Income Off- cycle Internship may be considered for opportunities across two teams. Based on business needs and candidate qualifications, applicants may be selected to interview with one or both of the following teams:

Emerging Markets

The Emerging Markets Debt team has an approximately 40-year history of investing across emerging markets and manages more than $40 billion in assets. The global team comprises more than 50 investment professionals located across eight offices, bringing together deep regional expertise and a broad, cross-market perspective.

The team manages active fixed income strategies across hard-currency sovereign and quasi-sovereign debt, local interest-rate markets, currencies, and corporate credit. Its investment approach combines in-depth fundamental research with disciplined portfolio construction and risk management. Team members conduct country and macroeconomic research, monitor economic, political, and policy developments, analyse central bank communications and economic data, and contribute to investment decision-making across emerging markets, with a particular focus on Latin America and the Caribbean.

Skills particularly relevant to this team include:

• Strong interest in emerging markets and/or global macroeconomics
• Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese strongly preferred
• Academic background in Latin American History or Economics strongly preferred

Broad Markets

The Broad Markets Fixed Income team is a $140bn AUM investment team within MSIM Fixed Income, responsible for managing active single and multi-sector portfolios across Multi-Sector, Investment Grade Credit, and Sovereign strategies. The team is situated across London, New York, Boston, and Mumbai.

Skills particularly relevant to this team include:

• Interest in client engagement, product strategy, and business development
• Ability to communicate complex investment concepts to a broad audience
• Familiarity with investment management tools such as Bloomberg or Aladdin is advantageous

Roles and Responsibilities

• Become fully integrated within the investment team, developing a strong understanding of investment strategies, portfolio positioning, and market developments.
• Prepare presentations, reports, research materials, and other supporting documentation.
• Analyse information, identify key insights, and help solve complex business or investment-related challenges.

Qualifications/Skills/Requirements:

• Excellent academic background and have graduated from university or able to take the time off to commit to a full-time internship role for 6 months if you are currently in study
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Demonstrated interest in financial markets, economics, and investment management.
