Description

The NYU McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research is committed to creating new knowledge about the root causes of poverty, developing evidence-based interventions to address its consequences, and rapidly translating research findings into action through policy and best practices.

We are seeking to recruit a Program Associate who will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of training initiatives within the Center for Workforce Excellence (CWE), the Trauma Informed Network and Resource Center (TINRC) and other related training and technical assistance projects as needed. The Program Associate will report to the Senior Director of Clinical Initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the day-to-day management of projects under the purview of the Senior Director of Clinical Initiatives and ensure activities meet contract deliverables

  • Coordinate regular meetings and communicate with funders and partners regarding contract deliverables as needed

  • Lead periodic touch-base meetings with project teams as needed

  • Coordinate activities with the McSilver Evaluation team to ensure reporting requirements are met

  • Liaise and communicate with other teams at McSilver as needed

  • Develop and coordinate scopes of work and deliverables for outside consultants as needed

  • Maintain consistent communication and manage the work of outside consultants involved in the respective projects as needed

  • Support the Senior Director of Clinical Initiatives to facilitate meetings with leadership, advisory board(s), and other key meetings

  • Participate in trainings and meetings across the state as needed

  • Support breadth and depth of training offerings and their promotion

  • Be available to host online meetings, use registration/event management system, and respond to customer questions as appropriate

  • Work with Evaluation team to develop reports as needed for project leadership and funders

  • Develop and facilitate training content as needed

  • Collaborate with internal and external teams/partners and incorporate critical feedback into work

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Strong ability to thoroughly conduct background research on a variety of topics related to mental health and poverty

  • General knowledge and interest in culturally responsive mental healthcare and children’s behavioral health

  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills

  • Excellent writing and communication skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, strategic partners, and the public and exercise effective negotiation and change management communication skills

  • Openness to learning and receiving critical feedback

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in health related field and/or a Bachelor’s Degree with demonstrated minimum of 3 years’ experience managing major projects; working with state or local government entities a plus

  • Knowledge of mental health, especially children’s mental health a plus

  • Must have strong computer skills and knowledge of common programs such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite

  • Familiarity with Zoom and Webex video conferencing platforms

  • Displays strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Excellent research and writing skills

  • Ability to plan and manage multiple projects

  • Detail-oriented and superior organizational skills, including managing multiple projects

  • Ability to adapt under different situations and exercise stress tolerance skills

  • Ability to travel

Salary

This position is full-time and includes a generous benefits package. In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $65,000- $75,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Please note:

  • NYU McSilver is currently operating on a hybrid schedule of 3-days a week in-person.

  • This is a grant funded position with the opportunity for ongoing renewal reviewed on an annual basis.

  • This position does not qualify for visa sponsorship.
