Description
The NYU School of Professional Studies seeks a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Real Estate for the Schack Institute of Real Estate, with an anticipated start date of Fall 2026.
The Schack Institute of Real Estate is actively seeking candidates who are distinguished academics and/or professionals with exemplary experience in commercial real estate finance and development and have the ability to teach courses in one or more of the following areas: Real estate fundamentals, finance, property development across a range of asset classes. Additionally, ideal candidates will have experience with utilizing and teaching the latest technologies related to artificial intelligence, data analysis and property technology specifically focused on applications for real estate professionals. Faculty candidates should also have experience working with a wide range of professionals and have experience or evidence of the potential for success in teaching a broad population of students, including first generation students and international students as well as those new to the field of real estate.
Reporting to the Associate Dean of the Schack Institute of Real Estate, the successful candidate will work closely with the Academic Director to implement the vision for expanding Schack Institute of Real Estate’s programs and initiatives, and to increase Schack Institute of Real Estate’s profile and visibility locally, nationally and internationally. The successful candidate will teach within the graduate and undergraduate programs; may also teach within corporate and executive education programs; develop courses; advise students; collaborate with other faculty and industry partners; and engage with the broader NYU SPS academic community, as appropriate.
This full-time position is a nine-month appointment with a two-year renewable faculty contract. The rank of the position will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications. Courses in Schack are offered in Fall, Spring and Summer sessions and are taught both in daytime and evening at NYU facilities in midtown Manhattan as well as on NYU’s downtown campus.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $160,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will (i) hold an advanced degree (terminal in their field or discipline), preferably in economics, finance, business, real estate or real estate development, and have the ability to teach foundational courses in one or more of the following areas: finance and investment, capital markets, portfolio management, development process, asset management, and/or infrastructure finance; (ii) have a significant industry or academic track record; (iii) have at least two years of teaching experience and effectiveness in higher education, (iv) have experience working with or teaching students from a wide range of backgrounds. Candidates should provide evidence of initiative in curricular development, demonstrate an ability or potential ability to engage in meaningful service or administrative work, and supply evidence of promise in scholarly work.
This role seeks an individual well versed in artificial intelligence as it applies to real estate, property technology, and/or comparative global real estate markets. Applicants should be well versed in current and emerging tools that incorporate artificial intelligence, large language models and machine learning specifically related to applications in the real estate industry. This will be evidenced by courses taught, courses developed, scholarly articles published or public presentations.
