Global Markets eTrading Risk & Controls Team Overview
The GM eTrading Risk is a first line of defence function for electronic trading within Global Markets at Nomura. The team is part of the Front Office Risk and Controls function and works closely with each eTrading businesses and technology across Global Markets as well as Second Line functions. GM eTrading Risk and Controls is responsible for the build out and maintenance of robust control framework that mitigates risks associated with low touch electronic trading including conduct risk.
The eTrading Governance function is responsible for maintenance of algorithms, risk control inventory and related documentation, facilitation of approval process for new algorithms and material changes, development of eTrading policy, control processes and procedures etc.
The Independent Real Time Monitoring (IRTM) Team is responsible for Cross Asset real time monitoring and trend analysis of direct application and real-time time engine generated alerting in order to identify potential market impacting behaviours and events that could lead to a disorderly market. The team are also responsible for triggering of algorithmic trading system kill-switches as a last resort.
Requirements:
- A strong understanding of algorithmic trading systems and the inherent risks involved in their use, along with various controls used to mitigate such risks.
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with all levels of management
- A self-starter with an ability to drive initiatives and collaborate with global counterparts on deliverables.
- Ability to analyse, interpret, re-factor and present complex data-sets. Strong Excel and presentation skills preferable.
- Knowledge of local regulations and key exchange rules relating to algorithmic trading preferable.
- Track record of sound risk management to reduce operational and conduct risk and facilitate rapid business development.
- Experience in E-Trading, Technology, Compliance, Operational Risk Management, Audit and/or other relevant function preferable.
- Someone who is flexible and willing to do shifts to cover US time zone as and when required.
Responsibilities:
- Real time review of alerts
- Regular review of alerting trends
- Assist in the development of new alerts that could identify signs of disorderly trading and system run away
- Production of Management Information for Global Markets Management and the Electronic & Algorithmic Trading Oversight Committee (EATOC)
- Operate within a follow-the-sun model in conjunction with European and US counterparts
- Assist with project management of key eTrading initiatives and remediation of corrective actions when necessary.
- Governance and oversight of Nomura’s eTrading activities including maintenance of algorithms & risk controls inventory and related documentation, conduct annual review and attestation.
- Provide expert guidance to eTrading businesses with respect to eTrading Governance Framework including adherence to eTrading Policy and local regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate new algo and material change approval process, vendor due diligence.
- Work with business and second line in design and calibration of eTrading risk controls.
- Liaising with Regulators and Audit when required.
- Perform real time monitoring for signs of disorderly trading as and when required
