We are seeking a Business Analyst to join Nomura’s Global Execution Services Technology team in Tokyo, sitting on the trading floor and working closely with Equity and Listed Derivatives business stakeholders. The role focuses on requirements definition and delivery for front-office trading systems (OMS/EMS and connectivity), ensuring our platforms support Japan listed cash equities and listed derivatives business.

Also, the role serves as an IT point of contact for economic security matters and regulator engagement with the Financial Services Agency (FSA) and Cabinet Office. Responsibilities include coordinating responses to audits/inspections, managing major incident reporting (including drafting incident narratives), driving timely escalation to senior management, and formal reporting to regulators. In addition to external regulator engagement, the role will coordinate and consolidate responses for internal audits and inspections, acting as the central liaison across business, IT, and Compliance to ensure accurate, timely, and consistent communication and documentation.
Responsibilities:
・Maintain strong stakeholder relationships across Japan and global teams; communicate status, risks, and mitigation plans clearly to senior management.
・Partner with business stakeholders (traders, sales traders, operations, compliance) to prioritize the backlog and shape the product roadmap for Japan cash equities and listed derivatives.
・Own end-to-end business analysis for front-office trading systems (OMS/EMS, exchange connectivity, post-trade touchpoints).
・Drive end-to-end analysis and solution design: elicit and document business/functional requirements (user stories, acceptance criteria); translate them into clear specifications and workable solutions with developers, QA, and architects; perform data analysis/mapping and define interface contracts and workflow impacts.
・Coordinate and support UAT: test planning, case design, execution oversight, defect triage, and sign-off.
・Provide Level 2/3 application support in production:
- Drive timely escalation to senior management; coordinate internal approvals for regulator notifications and submissions.
- Lead formal reporting to regulators, ensuring adherence to reporting obligations, formats, and deadlines; track and close follow-up actions.
・Act as the IT window to the FSA and Cabinet Office for economic security-related matters, audits, inspections, and inquiries.
・Ensure adherence to SDLC, change/incident management, and internal controls; contribute to process and control improvements.

<Mandatory>
  • Native-level Japanese and business-level English; strong written English.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in front-office trading systems within investment banking, broker/dealer, buy-side, or vendor environments.
  • Exposure to listed derivatives (futures/options) trading systems and workflows in Japan.
  • Solid understanding of SDLC, Agile practices (Scrum/Kanban), and change/incident management.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving; able to quickly grasp new issues and identify viable solutions under time pressure.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to interface with traders, IT, operations, and compliance, and with auditors/regulators when required.
  • Strong organization, documentation, and time management skills; able to prioritize multiple deliveries and meet tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility and self-starter mindset; reliable and punctual; team player.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and continuous learning mindset to keep pace with rapid technological change; proactive in leveraging AI tools and techniques to improve workflow efficiency and team productivity, with attention to governance and data security.
  • Willingness to obtain the Japan Securities Sales Representative (Type 1) license if not already held.
<Desirable Skills & Experience>
  • Experience managing exchange connectivity or market structure projects (e.g., TSE/Osaka exchange upgrades and certifications).
  • Experience working with distributed/offshore development teams.
  • PMI-ACP or equivalent agile certification is advantageous.・Technical (BA-oriented):
  • Familiarity with OMS/EMS platforms, exchange connectivity, and common trading protocols (e.g., FIX; knowledge of exchange APIs/protocols is a plus).
  • Ability to perform data and log analysis, including basic SQL and Unix/Linux command-line for triage.
  • Understanding of software and UI design principles sufficient to collaborate effectively with development and UX teams.
  • Knowledge of DevOps concepts, CI/CD, and release/change controls from a BA perspective.
