Divisional Overview:

Global Middle Office (GMO) is a control function focussed on the integrity of key transactional, risk and financial data and reporting. GMO will also perform an Advisory role partnering with the business and management to help deliver the firm-wide strategy. To achieve this GMO will leverage the latest Digital Innovation & Automation (DI&A) opportunities to optimize GMO’s efficiency and operating model. Key Responsibilities include:

  • Data Management:

Providing a complete and validated data set of transactional information, efficiencies in the production and proactive management of these data sets

  • Control:

Provide assurance on accuracy of firms financial statements through daily PL validation, Risk Model inputs, Proactive management of internal inventory and collateral obligations to ensure key liquidity / collateral requirements are optimized

  • Advisory:

Provide business support and oversight on new products/transactions, financial resources, liquidity management and trade bookings. Propose and implement FTB process improvements; institute performance analytics; and help navigate regulatory, industry and account changes

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Analyst to join our Bond and CDS Middle Office team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in fixed income and derivatives operations within a dynamic global environment. The successful candidate will be based in our Asia operations but must demonstrate flexibility to support EMEA and US shifts as business requirements dictate.

Core Middle Office Functions:

  • Serve as part of the Credit Middle Office team, with primary responsibility for trade validation, trade reconciliation, and prioritization of trader queries across multiple products including Bonds, Equity, CDS, CDS Index, IRS, and Convertible Bonds
  • Act as the central point of contact for trade and regulatory-related queries, maintaining regular communication with regional stakeholders, settlement teams, Sales & Sales Support, and Trading desks
  • Manage and analyze various control reports, demonstrating strong risk assessment capabilities and implementing appropriate mitigation measures
  • Proactively identify operational risks and develop effective solutions by introducing robust control mechanisms and process improvements
  • Maintain comprehensive MIS reporting and prepare Key Risk Indicator (KRI) packages for daily and weekly management review
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of trade lifecycle management, including fail management, OTC derivatives processing, corporate actions, redemptions, and conversions
  • Utilize technical skills including proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint (mandatory), with additional knowledge of Power BI and Python considered advantageous
  • Apply logical thinking and analytical skills, supported by comprehensive knowledge of financial products and derivatives
  • Leverage understanding of accounting principles and their practical application in middle office operations

Additional Expectations for Analyst Level (1-2 years’ experience):

  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail while managing multiple concurrent tasks and meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Show initiative in learning new systems and processes, with the ability to quickly adapt to evolving market conditions and regulatory requirements
  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex trade issues to various stakeholders across different time zones
  • Display collaborative approach when working with cross-functional teams, contributing positively to team objectives and maintaining professional relationships
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy in trade processing and validation activities, understanding the critical importance of precision in financial operations
  • Show willingness to take on additional responsibilities and support special projects as assigned by senior team members
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of regulatory frameworks affecting bond and derivative markets, with eagerness to expand knowledge
  • Exhibit problem-solving capabilities when addressing trade breaks, settlement issues, and client inquiries
