Role Description:
As a Cloud Platform Engineer at Nomura, you will take part in end-to-end solution delivery for strategic platforms that deliver value for our business and engineering teams.
In this role, you will be a subject matter expert in our Cloud platform and contribute to its roadmaps and features, drive operational excellence and make the platforms easier for the broader engineering community to consume.
Your work will center around AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), and Terraform and will contribute to the evolution of our cloud control plane and foundational infrastructure and platform capabilities as the organization migrates into a new cloud environment.
You will develop and support APIs for our platforms, contribute to API frameworks and practices, and collaborate with other Platform Engineering teams to evolve the platforms and foundational engineering patterns and achieve enterprise-level synergies.
Location Requirements:
This is a hybrid role, and candidates are expected to be in the Philadelphia office 3 days a week.
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- 4+ years of professional experience in Cloud, DevOps, SRE, Platform, or similar roles.
Expertise with:
- Cloud Infrastructure in AWS (core services, networking, IAM, etc.)
- Kubernetes and related subjects, particularly with EKS, Docker, Helm, Flux
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC), particularly using Terraform
- CICD, particularly using Gitlab
- Observability, particularly using LTGM (Grafana, Loki, Mimir/Prometheus, Tempo).
- API Gateways and WAFs
- Proficiency in Python and/or Go for building pipelines and microservices
- Working knowledge of databases, APIs, and modern authentication/authorization mechanisms.
- Familiarity with Linux, shell scripting, load balancing, and networking/OS concepts.
- Ability to design solutions considering user experience, automation, security, performance, resilience, cost, scale, and reusability.
- Understanding of design patterns, testing methodologies, and the overall SDLC. Comfort in proposing designs, gathering feedback, building reusable solutions, and documenting them effectively.
- Familiarity with Workflow orchestration tools like Airflow
