Business Overview

The Chief Data Office (CDO) plays a key role in defining and implementing the firm's data strategy and is responsible for defining and overseeing effective data, Cloud and AI governance for Nomura to enable data-driven regulatory compliance, data risk mitigation and improved data usability for analytics and AI. It is the central authority overseeing the Business and Corporate functions in complying with data, Cloud and AI governance requirements.

Role Purpose

Data and AI Governance Automation Lead (Associate) , would be instrumental in designing and developing Data & AI Governance application architectures, prototypes in line with the needs of Business functions and the Global Governance framework for AI. This role is key in bridging the gap between data science and production systems by developing robust architectures, integrating machine learning models, and ensuring optimal performance of AI applications while adhering to best practices in software engineering and data governance capabilities. The individual in this role would also be instrumental in acting as an SME and an interface between the CDO Business Functions and the offshore execution teams responsible for development, monitoring and ongoing support.

Role Description and Responsibilities

AI & Data Governance Solutions Design & Development

• • Application Architecture & Full-Stack Development: Architect and develop comprehensive applications supporting governance workflows and automation platforms
  • Data Architecture: Design robust data models and architectures supporting governance data flows, inventory management, and risk assessment processes
  • Platform Integration: Build and maintain integrations with IT/data/model inventory platforms and governance toolsets
  • Cloud Solutions: Develop and deploy solutions on AWS cloud infrastructure, utilizing services supporting platforms for scalability and cost
  • User Experience Design: Create intuitive user interfaces and dashboards that enhance governance workflow efficiency and user adoption

Qualification & Core Skills requirement:

• 5-10 years of progressive experience in application design, architecture, and full-stack development
• 3+ years designing and implementing enterprise-scale applications
• Proven track record leading technical workstreams and delivering complex solutions from concept to production
• Experience in financial services or highly regulated industries preferred
• Experience with AI governance frameworks and responsible AI principles
• Knowledge of financial services regulatory requirements (model risk management, data privacy)
• AWS or cloud architecture certifications
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies

Technical Requirements

Core Development & Architecture

• Strong expertise in application architecture design patterns (microservices, event-driven, serverless)
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages (Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript)
• Deep understanding of SDLC, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)

Cloud & Infrastructure

• Extensive experience with AWS cloud services (Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway, CloudFormation)
• Hands-on experience designing and deploying cloud-native applications
• Understanding of cloud security, IAM, and compliance frameworks

Data & AI Capabilities

• Strong data architecture and modeling skills with experience designing scalable data solutions
• Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB)
• Practical experience with ML/AI lifecycle management including model deployment, monitoring, and governance
• Understanding of AI/ML concepts and their application in controls design and governance frameworks
• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor)

Analytics & Visualization

• Strong analytical skills with ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
• Proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, and application development
• Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) for dashboards and reports
• Ability to design real-time monitoring and alerting solutions
