Global execution services (GES) – Platform Engineering

Platform Engineering is the discipline of designing, building, and maintaining internal developer platforms (IDPs) that provide self-service capabilities to software development teams. It creates an abstraction layer over infrastructure, tools, and processes, enabling developers to build, deploy, and manage applications without needing deep infrastructure expertise.

Platform engineering provides services to enterprise solutions to cater business in Instinet ASIA, UK and US.

Role & Responsibilities:

This is a Techno managerial role. The selected person would be “Lead- Platform engineering” and would report to Instinet IT – Engineering Head. It’s very high ownership as the selected person would be part of a team that’s responsible for a significant part of overall GES- Engineering coverage. In addition, the selected person would independently work with global stakeholders and various Application groups towards high quality delivery out of Mumbai Infrastructure team.

Duties & responsibilities (includes but is not limited to):

  • Manage and maintain GitLab infrastructure, including repository management, access controls, CI/CD pipeline configuration, and system upgrades
  • Administer Nexus Repository Manager and Nexus IQ Server for artifact management, security scanning, and policy enforcement
  • Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to support development teams across multiple projects
  • Manage and configure Atlassian platforms including Confluence and Jira, ensuring optimal performance and integration with development workflows
  • Provide technical support and guidance to development teams on DevTools best practices
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement and maintain security policies across the development toolchain
  • Document processes, procedures, and system configurations

Required Qualifications

  • Proven hands-on experience managing GitLab in production environments
  • Demonstrated expertise with Nexus Repository Manager and Nexus IQ Server
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD concepts and practical experience implementing automated pipelines
  • Experience managing Atlassian products (Confluence, Jira) including user management, workflow configuration, and integrations
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams

  • GitLab Certified Associate/Professional
  • Atlassian Certified Professional (Jira/Confluence)
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or equivalent cloud certification
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  • Docker Certified Associate
  • Core Platform Technologies (Must-Have)IT Infrastructure: Linux and Network
  • Monitoring: Prometheus, Grafana
  • Configuration Management: Ansible
  • Repository: Gitlab, GitHub, Jenkins. Etc
  • Artifactory: Jfrog, nexus. Etc
  • Microservices: Docker, Kubernetes. Etc
  • ITSM Tools: ServiceNow, JIRA
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (as this is a senior global stakeholder facing role)
  • Highly proactive and takes initiative to identify problem areas to evolve solutions.
  • Client focused and attentive to business-critical Issues

Desirable Skill Set :

  • Prior experience of working in IBs is a plus but not mandatory
