Department Overview

The Service Management team based in London forms part of Shared Services (Operations) and provides oversight of the offshore teams located in Powai, India, as well as oversight and management of the Operations critical third-party vendors and agent banks.

The primary functions of the team include:

  • to provide challenge and oversight to the offshored and outsourced processes covering F&O, Securities, FX, OTC and New Issues, monitoring for key risks with a focus on appropriate escalation
  • incident management including BAU escalation as well as the management of major incidents from an Operations perspective
  • ensuring service quality with a focus on the ‘change the bank’ strategy (including any market mandatory or regulatory changes), targeting risk mitigation and cost reduction through process improvement and change implementation
  • identification of control gaps along with solutions for the business and enforcing Operational Standards effectively.

Role overview

Requirement for a finance individual to manage the day to day oversight requirements for EMEA, reporting into the Service Management Lead.

Key objectives critical to success

  • Manage and maintain a robust control environment, to mitigate operational and reputational risk within the function.

  • Act as an escalation point/SME to internal stakeholders to assist with the resolution of issues including exceptions, unmatched trades, depot/nostro breaks, buy-ins, and Operational Risk events.

  • Compilation and review of daily KRI’s and KPI’s via dashboards for Operations Management.

  • Regular communication with the wider teams in Powai, India to resolve issues and build networks.

  • Participation in key projects, understanding the requirements and working with relevant stakeholders towards delivery.

  • Client Money review and substantiation.

  • Provide BCP/RTR cover for any offshore critical processes.

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills enabling the individual to liaise effectively and share information with Nomura senior management and other key stakeholders throughout the firm.
  • Effective prioritisation with the ability to highlight key dependencies when appropriate.
  • AI skills (preferred) / PowerBI (preferred) /Excel skills (required) / PowerPoint (required)
  • Work well within an extended team environment (on shore and off shore) and take a keen interest in developing the function
  • Confidence to represent the department at any relevant internal or external meetings.
  • A self motivator who is able to work proactively to identify opportunities for process improvement and/or and realising cost save.
  • Good organizational skills and time management in order to be able to prioritize project deliverables.
  • Must have good analytical skills and a strong attention to detail. The ability to question existing practises/procedures, ensuring efficiency and recognition of streamlining opportunities are all key.
  • Good understanding of Fixed Income and Equities Markets including in the Issuance space, as well as OTC and FX.
